The weather in Disney World can be pretty finicky!
We’ve visited the parks on all kinds of days, from hot ones to stormy ones to everything in between. How do we do it? Well, we pack lots of rain gear and keep a close eye on our weather app! But a new collaboration between Disney and WeatherBug may make things just a bit easier.
The forecasting app WeatherBug has announced that they are working with Disney to deliver a “higher standard of environmental intelligence.” What exactly does that mean? Well, the 2 companies have signed a licensing agreement that will integrate Disney Weather Check technology into the WeatherBug app!
Once complete, guests will be able to use the WeatherBug app to track live weather features. That’ll help ya decide when to duck into a store when it’s raining, avoid getting in an outdoor line, etc. Pretty nifty!
The super cool thing about this is how personalized your weather advice will be. Weather information will be linked to your plans for the day — whether that’s boating, going to the beach, or trekking around Disney World — and you’ll also get alerts for road closures or storm development nearby.
Of course, there are also emergency features, such as checklists for emergency planning and a way to review preparedness for significant weather events. With hurricane season on its way to Orlando, this feature could be very helpful.
Greg Hale, Chief Safety Officer and Vice President of Worldwide Safety Assurance for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, explains that “the co-development to integrate Disney Weather Check into WeatherBug’s consumer app offers an expanded platform to make the live weather features easily available to everyone.” These new features will be accessible both within and outside Disney’s parks, so you can make the smartest decisions wherever you are.
We’ll keep you updated once a timeline for this collaboration is announced. We’re looking forward to making good use of this app on stormy days! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news.
