While many Disney Parks around the world have reopened (or are on their way to reopening) since initial closures began last year due to the ongoing health crisis, some still remain closed.
Disneyland Paris has gone through a few different phases, having reopened in July 2020, but then closed again shortly after in October. Disney initially planned for the park to reopen on April 2nd, but that has since been postponed and the area will now be used for a different purpose.
We previously shared that Disneyland Paris will be transformed into a mass COVID-19 vaccination site. And now we know when. According to Forbes, the vaccine site will be open beginning this Saturday, April 24th. The site itself will not be located inside of the theme park, but will instead be just outside of Disney’s Newport Bay Club hotel.
The vaccination site will only open on weekends and will be staffed by the local fire department with the hope of administering 1,000 vaccinations per day. Thus far, France has struggled in getting vaccinations rolled out to the public, so the additional site is intended to help the country increase its vaccination rate.
While this will be the first time that Disneyland Paris has been used as a vaccination site, it isn’t a new idea for Disney. Over in Disneyland Resort in California, one of the parking lots has been serving as a vaccination site since the beginning of the year.
We will continue to keep an eye out for more developments coming from the Disney Parks so stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news and updates!
