The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of things around the world.

Disney World’s Health and Safety Signs
Businesses big and small have felt the impact of the pandemic, as have their employees. Now, one of Disney’s leaders is doing something to help small businesses that are struggling to stay afloat throughout this pandemic.
According to Fox Business, Bob Iger, who is the Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, along with his wife, Willow Bay, have donated $5 million to help small businesses that are struggling through this pandemic. Willow Bay currently serves as the Dean of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

The donation was recently announced by the Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti during a COVID-19 news conference. In speaking about Iger and Bay, Garcetti said, “We are beyond grateful for your bold leadership.” Iger and Bay had previously donated $500,000 to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles. That fund supports small businesses and struggling families.

Many businesses have been on a waiting list for assistance, and that list has continued to grow as funds have dried up. The $5 million donation recently made is set to help 1,000 of the “hardest-hit” businesses that were on the waiting list in Los Angeles.
