As the end of 2020 is just around the corner, we’ve seen a year of fluctuation with new health and safety measures being put in place and even stay-at-home orders being issued.
Since the global health crisis is continually changing, the various ways countries are operating have also seen modifications recently. And, now Japan is placing another restriction in place into the New Year to protect its residents.
According to the US World News, Japan will be temporarily banning non-resident foreign travelers from entering the country after the detection of a new, highly infectious variant of the Coronavirus. The latest travel ban will last from December 28th through January, although Japan hasn’t stated exactly when it will end.
The variant was brought into the country by passengers arriving from Britain. The first cases were found outside airport security checks with a UK resident also testing positive. Since there has been another surge in Tokyo recently, the country is doing whatever it can to contain this new variant.
Arriving residents must show proof of a negative Coronavirus test 72 hours prior to their departure for Japan and must remain in quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. As Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has advised people to stay home and avoid social gatherings, Tokyo transport hubs have been subdued during this time.
Although Disney hasn’t released a statement about how these restrictions would affect Tokyo Disneyland, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the information you need to know!
