Disney World may be in FULL-ON HOLIDAY MODE, but technically, it’s still fall!
And if you’re a Disney fan who just can’t believe that Starbucks has moved on from the PSL to Peppermint Mochas, well, you’re in LUCK! We found one more pumpkin spice treat today at Disney’s Fort Wilderness!
Yes, pumpkin spice fans rejoice! P&J’s Southern Takeout is still serving the autumnal Pumpkin Spice Cupcake!
This vanilla cupcake comes topped with spiced buttercream and fall sprinkles, and of course, there’s a pumpkin filling inside! It costs $4.99.
Frosting fans will freak out for this cupcake, there’s TONS of spiced buttercream on top, which is a real highlight of the cupcake. At P&J’s, they keep the cupcakes chilled, so the buttercream is nice and cool, which adds to the creamy texture of the icing. However, this does mean that the vanilla cake underneath that pile of the sugary spicy deliciousness is a bit dry.
And while this cupcake boasts a pumpkin filling, well, there’s only a TINY bit of pumpkin filling even inside! That was honestly OK with us, because this pumpkin filling tasted straight out of the can. If that’s your thing, you’ll love the squash flavor of this filling. But if you’re looking for a pumpkin pie like filling, well, this ain’t it.
If you’re all about that #pumpkinspicelife or find tons of joy in frosting, then this is a good bet, especially if you’re staying at or visiting Fort Wilderness. But we wouldn’t go out of our way to get this cupcake again.
However, we won’t have to stress about this one for much longer. A Cast Member told us this cupcake was a Thanksgiving highlight, and that P&J’s Southern Takeout will be getting a Christmas cupcake soon. And you know when they do get that cupcake, we’ll be there to let you know if it’s the right sweet treat for you!
