NEWS: Due to Extended Water Park Closures, Some Disney World Annual Passholders Will Receive a Partial Refund

The Disney World water parks closed alongside most of the resort back in March. Until today, they remain closed with no news of reopening.

Now, Disney has announced that Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will not reopen until at least March 7th — almost a full year of closure. Due to this fact, some Disney World Annual Passholders will be receiving partial refunds.

Today, Disney sent out an email to Passholders that notes, “…due to the current closure of Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, we will be automatically issuing Platinum Plus Annual Passholders with water park access a partial refund.”

Per the email, the individual refund amount is calculated based on the price difference between what you paid for your Platinum Plus Pass and the price of a Platinum Annual Pass prorated by the number of days left on your pass prior to the reopening of the water parks.

The refunds will be processed to the original form of payment (or via check if the original form of payment is unavailable) in late October through early November. All refunds will be paid in a lump sum, even for those on the monthly payment program.

Your pass still includes all of its benefits including admission to Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. If the water parks or ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex reopens before your pass expires, your admission will still be valid.
