As the Disneyland closure reaches the six-month mark, theme park officials are seeking the next step.

Earlier this week, we heard comments from Governor Newsom about the “open-ended” discussions surrounding the reopening of the theme parks. No further details were shared and the lack of information spurred calls from the Anaheim Mayor for the guidelines. Now, Disney executives have echoed the sentiments.

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland President Ken Potrock made a statement calling on the state of California to issue guidelines for the reopening of theme parks.

Potrock explained, “We are disappointed with the state’s lack of progress in providing the industry with guidance and clarity on reopening. We have proven we can operate responsibly, with strict health and safety protocols at our properties around the world and at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.”

The theme park itself is not the only item at stake when it comes to getting the parks reopened. Potrock noted, “Tens of thousands of people’s livelihoods depend on our ability to operate and we stand ready and willing to accelerate discussions with the Governor and his team to make ‘real progress’ toward our reopening and getting people back to work.”

Disneyland has joined with the California Attractions and Parks Association, the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park and Garden Grove and Legoland California in the hopes of getting theme park guidelines from the state government.
