As Hollywood Studios has opened again, we’ve been hopping on Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run over and over again.
And while it’s always a blast to visit Batuu, we’re also thrilled to read an entire world of new Star Wars content that takes us back to the beginning!
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that the new Star Wars: The High Republic book will be connected to Marvel’s Star Wars comic books from 2015.
During the Disney-Lucasfilm Publishing panel at Comic-Con at Home, the author Justina Ireland stated that her book in the series set hundreds of years before Star Wars: A New Hope will be connected to Sana Starros. She let fans know that the ruthless scoundrel’s lineage will be dived into since The High Republic is set centuries before her story begins.
Instead, fans will meeting her “great, great, many-times-great ancestor [but] there won’t be a direct relation there because genetics are murky in the Star Wars galaxy.” Avon Starros will be one of the co-leads in the new book The High Republic: A Test of Courage.
Ireland has also revealed to fans that, “Avon is a 12-year-old girl, she has been sent to the edge of the galaxy by her mother who’s a republic senator because she’s just trouble. She is a scientist and the only things she wants to know are the answers to the questions that drive her. So, ‘How does the Force work, from a scientific perspective?’ That might be something a scientist would want to know. ‘What happens if you take a khyber crystal out of a lightsaber, what does that look like?’”
The new book will be released in January 2021 with Amy Ratcliffe’s The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge book following afterwards in the spring that will dive into the artwork, blueprints, and more of the lands. We can’t wait to hear more about the Star Wars universe before Luke, Leia, Han, and all our other favorite characters!
