We marked our calendars and have been getting pumped for opening day of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — which btw, is TOMORROW!

But we recently found out that there is more than one reason to celebrate because March 4th is ALSO opening day of the Mickey Shorts Theater! Today we’re are taking you with us to get a sneak peek of this new experience at Disney World, along with a new Mickey Mouse cartoon — Vacation Fun!

The new Mickey Shorts Theater is housed in the building formerly occupied by Star Wars: Path of the Jedi. It’s got a cute new sign out front and its the only place to catch the exclusive new animated short film, Vacation Fun!

Stepping inside the freshly reimagined space, we really adore what they’ve done with the place! The room isn’t overly massive, and it’s got a distinctly cozy charm to it! We chalk some of that Disney charisma up to the new theater seats which look like they’re wearing Mickey’s pants! So adorable!

As for the new short itself, the plot of Vacation Fun follows the musing of Mickey Mouse as he packs for a trip and reminisces about past vacations he’s been on. We weren’t really big fans of Vacation Fun. The humor felt a little off for us — it’s very slapstick and the content has a much more modern feel to it than the retro, classic Mickey cartoons, but definitely check it out for yourself at least once and see what you think!

Afterward, you’ll head out of the theater and be met with several photo ops based on some of the other Mickey shorts! We gotta say, Potatoland’s photo opp really stood out to us! I mean, you can get your photo taken with THE Potato!

There’s also this cute setup taken from the Mickey short Panda-monium! We promise the cute little panda will let you capture a picture of him this time — unlike in the cartoon!

We also love this Yodelburg set-up with Minnie’s mountain top chalet visible off in the distance!

Of course, there’s also a little shop where you can find some Mickey and Minnie merch available for purchase, ya know, just in case you need a pair of Classic Minnie Ears or plush toy to pose with!
