It’s finally the 2020 Epcot Festival of the Arts, and we’re ready to join in the fiesta!
While we’ve already tasted the delicious offerings at the Decadent Delights food studio, now we’re about to dig into some good ole’ Mexican food (one of our favorites).
Over at the Mexico Pavilion, El Artista Hambriento (or The Hungry Artist) is grilling up LOTS of new menu items for the festival this year! Although there was the Chocoflan for dessert last year, the 2020 menu is all about the savory eats!
Here are the eats they’ll be servin’ up for 2020!
Food
The Sopes de Chilorio from 2019 has been switched to the Sopes de Barbacoa for 2020. The dish costs $7.25 and comes with a Fried Guajillo Corn Shell filled with Braised Barbacoa Beef, Black Beans, Cotija Cheese, Mexican Cream, and Chives.
We SERIOUSLY loved the updated version! We’re talkin’ a major contender for our Best of the Fest list this year (which we’ll be putting together once we finally sample everything this year! Stay tuned!) The shell was nice and crunchy while the beef was well seasoned (just a little spicy!) We thought the portion size was really generous, too!
As a replacement for the Callo de Hacha, the Agave Pork Belly is being grilled up with Pumpkin Seed Pesto Lentil Salad. While we thought the pork belly was super delicious and buttery, we found our cut to be especially fatty. Maybe yours will be a little better, but this is Pork Belly, so expect a rich flavor! The sauce was nice and creamy with a lot of great flavors, and the lentils were yummy as well. This dish costs $7.50.
Drinks
The Frida Banana Daiquiri is new to the 2020 Festival of the Arts! The frozen drink will feature Mexican Handcrafted Rum, Banana Purée, and Applejack! Unfortunately, the slushy machine wasn’t working when we stopped by, but we’ll return to review it once they’ve worked out the kinks! When it’s available, the drink will cost $14.25!
We DID, however, get the chance to try the new Diego Blackberry Margarita for $14.50! Made with 100% Agave Tequila, Blackberry Purée, Fresh Jalapeño-Lime Juice, this drink comes served with a Black Ant Salt Rim. Yes…ants! While they’ve offered this ant option for a while, you will want to ask for regular salt as a substitute if you aren’t looking for an ant-covered rim.
We thought it was a good marg, but a little on the sweet side for us. We were hoping for more heat from the jalaneño to come through, but it was pretty lost on us.

We also sampled the new Mexican White Sangria for $9.50 featuring white wine, fruit juices, and sweet cinnamon-infused tequila! It was fruity, light and refreshing!
