There’s SOOO many new holiday options in Disneyland and we’re trying them ALL!
After sampling the space-tastic goodies at Alien Pizza Planet, we zipped over to Galactic Grill in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland to check out the four new holiday selections — yes, four!! Santa could fill his toy sack with all the treats and eats that have rolled into Disneyland for the Christmas season. Want to know what we thought of these futuristic seasonal dishes??
Galactic Grill introduced four new specials for the holiday season including the Steakhouse Burger, the Apple Pie Slush, the Nova Coffee Slush and the Caramel Pecan Brownie Parfait. We were super pumped to try these dishes out! Apple pie in slush form? Um… YES PLZ!!!
Let’s take a look at those slushes! We’re always excited to see a new coffee offering in the parks because in Disney, a coffee pick-me-up can do WONDERS when you’ve been running around all day! So, we gave the Nova Coffee Slush a try for $5.49 first! This drink is made with coffee and flavored with chocolate and mint. It’s also got a good mound of whipped cream on top that is dusted with peppermint flakes.
The peppermint flakes give this slush a pretty seasonal look and the flavors were good, but it’s not exactly jaw-dropping. It tasted less like a coffee slush and more like a chocolate milk slush which isn’t a bad thing! The mint flavor comes mostly from the peppermint topping so it was only mildy minty.
Overall, it’s a light drink and pretty refreshing. Plus, with that coffee it gave us a little more fuel in the tank! This is a great pick if you want that Christmasy peppermint drink but not so in your face with it that you feel like you got attacked by a tube of toothpaste!
Next was the Apple Pie Slush which we were PUMPED to taste. This pie-flavored slush is topped with whipped cream and pie spice and is also priced at $5.49! We liked this one better than the Nova Coffee Slush because it REALLY does taste like you’re drinking real apple pie in slushy form. Chewing is so overrated. 😉
You know how sometimes something tastes awesome at first then you go a bit flavor-numb to it after a few sips? That kinda happened here with the pie spice part of the drink. First sips were like a pie exploded in our mouths then after a while it tasted more like plain frozen apple juice. Still really refreshing and tasty, just not as “OMG — PIE!!!” after a while. 🙂
A little rarer than seasonal treats are full out seasonal meals so we were thrilled to see the Steakhouse Burger as an option for the holidays for $14.49. We’re still scratching our heads of how a regular ol’ burger counts as a holiday meal, but ok Disneyland, we’re here for you. The burger is an Angus beef patty with provolone, onion strings and bacon served with Greek yogurt or fries.
We were surprised by this one mostly because of how small the burger was! This thing is TINY compared to other Disney burgers! We were expecting some serious size and flavor with a gourmet name like Steakhouse Burger. The beef patty was fairly thin, and the bacon and onion were on the soggy side on ours. This is a perfectly fine burger if that’s what you’re in the market for, but we went in expecting a bit more.
Luckily though, our holiday feast ended with a DELISH finale. The Caramel Pecan Brownie Parfait was by far our fave special at Galactic Grill. It’s made up of chocolate cake soaked in sweet condensed milk, caramel-covered pecans, and brownie. How could we not like it?? This treat is available for $6.99 and comes topped with cute holiday sprinkles, crumbled pecans, a dollop of whipped cream, and a white chocolate Mickey!
The parfait has a full and thick layer of pecans that gives it an awesome texture but our favorite part was the lowest layer. The milk-soaked chocolate cake was flavorful and so, so, so perfectly moist! It was like chocolate tres leches (uno leches? Hmm…)! The toppings didn’t add too much to the flavor but they certainly made the treat look especially festive.
So, there you have it! Galactic Grill has some out of this world treats and eats, so head on over if you want to try them for yourself!
