We’ve seen Rey transform from a scavenger into a Jedi, while we’ve rooted Finn on during his switch from the Dark Side to the Light Side.
And, now the trilogy is coming to its bittersweet end with The Rise of Skywalker. And, even though we have to wait until December 20th to see the film, the last trailer leading up to its premiere is giving us more questions than answers! (We just want to see it already!!)
During the Patriots vs. Jets game on Monday night, the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker dropped, leaving fans anticipating the epic end to the latest Star Wars trilogy even more!
The saga’s finale will take the audience on the journey of a lifetime through numerous battlefields in the air, water, and earth (galactic worlds we can only dream of) where our heroes will be put to the ultimate test.
And, although Finn states that “the Force brought us together,” there is still some confusion over what side holds the most promise for Rey. The protagonist finds herself feeling like nobody understands her, but Kylo Ren admits that he does. For all you Star Wars fans out there, you’ll remember that this loneliness is part of the reason Anakin was tempted with the Dark Side. The question is…will Rey resist like Anakin could not?
There’s some reason to believe that she will fall into similar patterns as we’ve seen her wield a double-sided red lightsaber at D23. Buuut, there’s still hope for the heroine ’cause the trailer shows our girl defending the Light Side…
…while also fighting next to Kylo Ren, creating balance in the Force. Rey might possibly even convince Kylo Ren to reconsider which side he’s protecting.
If the big baddie isn’t Kylo Ren, though — who is it, you might ask? Emperor Palpatine is BACK and more sinister than ever! He warns that the individuals who have come together (maybe even the Light and the Dark Sides?) will cause their “undoing” by working as a team.
We have to say that Palpatine has his work cut out for him since Rose has recovered from her selfless sacrifice in The Last Jedi, Lando returns to pilot the Millennium Falcon (!!!), Leia makes a heartfelt appearance, and C-3PO is ready to fight until his final moments. (Yeah, we’re definitely crying at his “last look” at his friends.) So, we can’t help but wonder — who will live and who will die in the end of the saga?
It looks like we’re going to have to wait until December 20th for those answers about the last film in the trilogy. In the meantime, you can watch the last full-length trailer for the film here!
