Water parks are going to be POPULAR in Disney World this year thanks to Disney’s new water park perk.
If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you get free admission to one of the resort’s two water parks — Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach — on the day of your check-in! We weren’t sure how this perk would be received at first, but we’ve since seen that it’s VERY popular among guests, especially in warmer seasons. If you’re planning to take advantage of this perk, or just planning to check out a water park, you’ll want to be sure you have these essentials with you!
The Perfect Shoes
When you’re at a water park, you don’t want your socks and sneakers getting all well, so open-toed shoes are often your best bet. We highly recommend Tevas! They come in tons of different colors and designs, and they’re very comfortable for a day around the water park. You can also wear these in the water as water shoes!
Keep Those Sunglasses Where You Can See Them
There’s nothing worse than relying heavily on your sunglasses on a bright day at the water park, then you tilt your head back too far and they fall off in the lazy river, or you lose them somewhere while you’re walking around. To avoid that disaster, we recommend grabbing a Eyewear Retainer Cable Strap to keep it safely around you neck.
The Pictures Don’t Stop
You may be in the water, and phones and water don’t usually mix, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be tempted to take photos or videos to remember the day. To keep your phone dry but still be able to use it at the same time, grab yourself a Waterproof Cell Phone Pouch!
Keep EVERYTHING Dry
Now, if you’re traveling to the park with your phone, wallet, and other valuables that need to stay dry, but you don’t want to leave them sitting at your chair, the AiRunTech Waterproof Fanny Pack is a great purchase. This way, you can keep your items right on your person but not worry about them getting soaking wet.
Don’t Forget Those Towels
While you’re at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, towel rentals are free for Disney World hotel guests, but if you’re not one, then a towel rental will cost you around $2 a day. If you want to avoid paying that fee, grab yourself a towel from home, or purchase a special one you’ll bring with you on all your trips, like the Mickey Mouse & Friends Kids Bath Pool Beach Towel.
Keep Those Towels in Place
Get annoyed often when your towel slips off your chair as you move? We’ve been there too, which is why the Boao 8 Pack Towel Bands for Beach Chairs are a very worthy purchase in our opinion. Plus, it’ll help you keep track of which chair(s) is yours!
Keep Yourself Hydrated
Swimming takes a LOT out of you, and so does just laying in the sun! It’s extremely important to keep yourself hydrated anywhere in Disney World, but especially at the water parks when you’re so active. We recommend a water bottle that will keep your water cold for hours and hours on end, like an Owala!
Injuries Happen Anywhere
The ground is slippery nearly everywhere at water parks, so we highly recommend having a First Aid Kit with you in case someone in your group needs it. While you can always go to first aid inside the park, sometimes it’s better to have it yourself so you can take care of it quickly and let everyone get back to having a great day. These pouches are small enough that everyone can have one in their bag, which will be beneficial for the whole trip.
Re-apply That Sunscreen Easily
The Solar Buddies Sunscreen Applicator is a super easy, mess-free way to apply sunscreen while you’re out having fun in the water park. Simply fill it with whatever sunscreen you prefer (and it’s refillable!) and put it on easy as can be. It’s especially great to use on your face and avoid making a mess, but you can use it on the rest of your body as well.
Speaking of Sunscreen…
There are a lot of sunscreen brands out there, but one of our favorites is Supergoop! They have lots of different options in varying degrees of SPF, so everyone can find the one that’s the best fit for them. Whatever you do, do NOT get to that water park without having sunscreen on!
Water Shoes Might Be A Lifesaver!
If you’ve got kiddos (or adults!) who don’t like to go in the water barefoot, but they’re really not a fan of open-toed shoes, then the Red Bow Polka Dot Water Shoes may be perfect for them. These are totally closed-toed, they’re Disney-themed, and they’re non-slip and dry quickly.
Keep Those Drinks Cold
You are able to bring your own food and drinks into the Disney World water parks, which can save you a LOT of money. If you’re looking for a way to keep your items cold without dragging an entire cooler in, the Corkcicle EOLA Cooler Backpack is a fantastic choice!
Keep Your Wet Suit Away From Everything Else
There’s nothing worse than changing out of your wet bathing suit only to realize you can’t put it back in your bag without getting everything else wet. That’s where the KIKIGOAL Dry Wet Separated Swimming Bag comes in! It can easily fold up to fit inside another bag, and then you can put your suit in, and make sure it stays separate from everything else.
We’re always here to help you make sure you feel fully prepared for your upcoming trip, so stay tuned to DFB!
