Video of a gathering of protesters chanting “Boycott Disney” outside Disney headquarters on April 6 has now been viewed more than 1.1 million times. Thousands more people are sharing posts on social media calling for a boycott. A letter recently published in the Wall Street Journal was signed by grandparents stating they had canceled a trip to Disney World with their grandson, and they are “ashamed to be stockholders.”

The latest movement to boycott Disney comes after the corporation issued a statement saying it would seek to have Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” law by its critics, repealed by the Florida Legislature or struck down by the courts.
A proposal that aims to strip Disney World of its self-governing powers was passed in the Florida House with less than 60 seconds of discussion Thursday, after some Florida lawmakers disrupted proceedings on the House floor and staged a sit-in.
The House called an informal recess after the disruption began, when Rep. Yvonne Hayes Hinson (D) was speaking in opposition to the Florida redistricting maps that were up for a separate vote today in Tallahassee. When her mic was cut off after her allotted time ran out, other lawmakers marched to the front of the chamber shouting, “This is good trouble.”

When House proceedings resumed with protestors still shouting from the front of the House chamber, the three bills on the docket were quickly brought to a vote without debate.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is following through with threats against Disney World’s self-governing powers.
DeSantis announced this morning that he would ask Florida lawmakers to eliminate the Reedy Creek Improvement District during a special Legislative session that started today.

The announcement escalates the feud between DeSantis and Disney, which until now has largely been a war of words over actions by Disney that DeSantis deems “woke.” The feud began when Disney CEO Bob Chapek spoke out against the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act, which critics call the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.”
Tax Day came a few days late this year, but here we are! Now we know most of us don’t necessarily celebrate paying taxes, but meeting that deadline and checking it off your to-do list feels great, doesn’t it? We’ll take our reasons to celebrate where we can find them!

The pretty standard order to book a trip to Disney World used to be: 1. Book your resort and tickets. 2. Book your flight. 3. Book your rental car. If you were accustomed to booking a rental car for your Disney vacations, they were plentiful and relatively inexpensive in Orlando, other than a few peak weeks of the year. They were basically an afterthought.

We now know that the new restaurant will open this spring, and the café will be a Starbucks location as well. Earlier this week, we got a new EPCOT park map that lists Connections Café and Eatery under the dining section. Today we’re learning more about the special nods to Disney’s history that you’ll see inside once this spot opens!
