We tried some NEW treats in Disney World recently!
We’re constantly on the lookout for new snacks dropping around the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs, and when we find things to try, we share those reviews with our followers! This way, you guys know what the must-have treats are for your upcoming vacations. We just tried three new items in Hollywood Studios and EPCOT — should you get them? Let’s find out!
Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT
For the first new treat, we’re heading to Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. Here, we snagged the Mickey-shaped Strawberry Lemonade Macaron for $6.29. It’s a pretty one!
The overall flavor of this leans hard into the tart lemonade. The icing filling is soft and smooth with a sweet lemon flavor, and it balances nicely with the strawberry jam that’s in the center of each Mickey ear and the middle of the macaron. Those two filling flavors together help create that strawberry lemonade vibe.
The filling is the main focus here, as the macaron itself doesn’t have much flavor to it. But be warned — that yellow color will absolutely stain your fingers!
It’s very pretty, but it’s not necessarily a must-try unless you’re a huge macaron fan or love strawberry lemonade-flavored things. It’s perfect for the Instagram feed, though!
Epic Eats in Hollywood Studios
At Epic Eats in Echo Lake at Hollywood Studios, you’ll find the new Pride Funnel Cake for $8.99. It’s topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal, ube frosting drizzle, powdered sugar, and a small amount of vanilla soft serve.
They were pretty generous with the toppings here, but that soft serve melts near-instantly outside, particularly in the June heat. The ube frosting also confused us a bit because it started out as a vibrant purple color and proceeded to turn a lighter shade of blue throughout the process of taking photos. Perhaps because of the melting ice cream?
The cereal, powdered sugar, melted soft serve, and ube frosting all together make it seem like a cereal milk-flavored funnel cake. It has the softness of the cereal pieces but a firm crunch on the outside edges from the funnel cake, which was soft and fluffy on the inside. Those cereal pieces get soggy pretty quickly, so it’s probably a good idea to enjoy this treat ASAP after picking it up at the window.
All in all, it’s fun and colorful, and could be a favorite of those who love cereal and sweet treats, but it’s also probably not a must-try when stacked up against some of the other funnel cakes at this stand.
Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Hollywood Studios
At Rosie’s All-American Cafe on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios, we grabbed two new items — the Plant-based Dog and the Red Velvet Riveter.
The Plant-based Dog is $11.79 and comes with a side of house-made chips. The “sausage” dog is a bit on the smaller side, and the texture is dense and chunky with a bit of earthiness from the added spices. There’s a hint of a spicy aftertaste.
The combination of the “sausage”, relish, BBQ aioli, and tomato create a savory tomato-heavy flavor that’s reminiscent of marinara sauce or pizza sauce. The tomato adds freshness and a crisp slightly crunchy texture to each bite while the relish gives a bit of a sweetness that balances the spiciness of the dog.
The Red Velvet Riveter is now available here for $5.99. This is a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, chocolate ganache, and typically a white chocolate coin garnish (ours was missing initially — likely a first-day mishap).
The cake kept its shape surprisingly well until we cut into it. The chocolate ganache center has a thin and runny texture that reminded us of a lava cake when cut into. The edges of the cake itself are a bit crispy, but the middle is soft and fluffy.
The flavor of the cream cheese frosting really stands out and combines with the chocolate to make this a very sweet treat. The aftertaste of this is a bit artificial, so that was slightly offputting, but the flavors work well together. If you eat it quickly, it probably won’t fall apart in the heat like ours did. 😂
