I don’t know about you, but I’ve been counting down the days till Walt Disney Studios opens in Hollywood Studios. The new area is replacing Animation Courtyard and will be opening this summer, and while we don’t have an opening day yet, I’m already planning my visit.
Disney filed two permits for Walt Disney Studios, and it’s making us even MORE excited for it to open.
Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit to “install signage” at Walt Disney Studios. That may sound small, but it’s actually HUGE. Signage is usually only added towards the end of projects, and while this doesn’t mean it’s going up tomorrow, they are working on the next step. This permit was filed at 755 Stage Lane.
The second permit was also filed by Walt Disney Imagineering to “install signage,” but this time at 561 Stage Lane. We know it’s in the Walt Disney Studios space, so it looks like two of the buildings can be getting some new additions. It might be entryway signage, The Magic of Disney Animation, or the Disney Jr. building.
Star Wars: Launch Bay is being turned into The Magic of Disney Animation, which will have character meet and greets with unique backgrounds based on different parts of the animation process. There will also be drawing classes, which is what I’m pretty thrilled about.
You can’t forget the Alice in Wonderland-themed indoor playground based on the original concept art by Mary Blair!
The main space looks like it will have other character meet and greets as well, along with plenty of places to sit back and relax. I can only imagine how nice it will be to grab a snack and have a rest during your chaotic Hollywood Studios day.
