A new permit filed by Walt Disney World Resort hints that something NEW could be coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Construction at the Contemporary Resort has been ongoing since September 2024, and we recently spotted a new permit that was filed.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The refurbishment at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is expected to continue through late 2027, though construction has already been extended several times. Initially, the refurbishment was expected to be done in summer 2025, then July 2026, and now it has been extended through late 2027.
Currently, Disney World has a construction warning for “select areas” of the Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. As well, the Bay Cove Pool, the Cover Bar, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower are closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Rooms at Bay Lake Tower have been refurbished, and now it appears some glasswork will be done at the resort.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
A permit filed by Walt Disney World for “general construction” lists Glazing Management & Consultants in Kissimmee, Florida, as the contractor. As you can probably tell by the name, this contractor specializes in glazing. On the company’s Blue Book profile, it lists its main lines of business as curtain walls, glass and glazing, and skylights and sky domes. The address on the permit matches the address for the Contemporary Resort; however, we don’t know exactly what sort of glasswork the contractor will be doing.

We will be keeping an eye out for additional changes happening at the Contemporary Resort! The hotel has been undergoing many updates, including refurbishing the rooms at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. We had the opportunity to tour one of the new 2-bedroom suites last September!

I posted a few days ago about The Boardwalk’s Luna Park closing Jan. through April. I rushed to judgment because I thought it was this year. The Luna Park pool area will be closed for refurbishment in 2027!!! At least my trip in March won’t be affected.
