It’s not often that we call something “cringey,” especially when it comes to people, or something they’re doing, but we’re in Disney World A LOT, and that means we’ve seen some…questionable things.
Some of the things we’ve seen are a little silly, and many of them we’ve also done ourselves, like tripping over the trolley tracks, or forgetting to pack a sweater and having to buy one in the gift shop so we don’t freeze. While we usually live our lives in a way that makes us confident enough to not care what other people think of us (and encourage you to do the same, for the most part), when you’re in Disney World, we are BEGGING you to PLEASE not do these eight cringey things.
Being Rude To Cast Members
We know that things can be stressful in the parks, especially if your day isn’t going as planned. However, it is NEVER okay to be rude to Cast Members, and honestly? When we’ve heard someone getting rude with them in the past, all we can think about is how they potentially WOULD have gotten help if they had just been kinder.
Cast Members WANT to help you. They want you to have the most magical time, but oftentimes, there are situations outside their control that you may be going to them about. If you’re kind, patient, and understanding, you may be surprised at what magic they CAN make (but they’re never OBLIGATED to make — some situations just don’t have a fix), but if you’re rude? Yeah, you’re not getting ANY of that potential magic.
Not Listening to The Rules
The rules in Disney World aren’t just there for fun — they’re there for a reason. Whether it’s to keep you safe, other guests from getting hurt, or to protect Disney’s rides, shows, and/or Cast Members, there’s a reason it’s there. That means that if you just decide to forgo it? Well, you could be putting people in danger.
You may think that YOU can run in Disney World because you’re coordinated and won’t fall, but what if you turn a corner and run smack into a guest that you couldn’t see? Or what if the terrain changes, you don’t realize, and you go down, face-first? Perhaps you don’t see a problem with your kids climbing on things they aren’t supposed to, because you know they climb on stuff all the time and are fine. But what if they DO fall, or they move their foot wrong and accidentally kick someone in the face? Just follow the rules, it’s really not that hard!
Talking on Speakerphone
We can’t tell you how many times we’ve been wandering around the park and heard people having LOUD conversations with others on the phone, while the person on the other line is on speakerphone, so now EVERYONE can hear what’s going on. Then, sometimes they get mad when they notice you’re giving them looks — friends, if you’re opening up your conversation for EVERYONE to hear on speakerphone…it’s now a public conversation.
Now, we know that sometimes the phone’s speaker isn’t great and you may have a hard time hearing, but you want to tell your family and friends back home what you’re seeing. We get it! That’s where it’s best to invest in a pair of earbuds or headphones to put on so you can both hear each other better, and you’re not disturbing those around you. Or, you can find a quiet corner and talk on the phone normally (with it up to your ear), to make sure you can fully focus on the conversation.
Stopping in the Middle of Walkways
This happens EVERY DAY we’re in the park, and no, it’s not an exaggeration — we can’t tell you how many times we see people, sometimes large groups of people, fully stop in the middle of a walkway and block it for others. This is especially hard if the walkway is already pretty small, but stopping in the middle of anywhere just isn’t ideal.
Now, I’ll be honest — there was one time that I got distracted by something and momentarily stopped in a walkway. A few seconds later, I went, “WHAT AM I DOING?!” and immediately moved off to the side. Things happen! However, try to keep in mind that there are literally thousands of other people in the parks around you at any given time, all trying to have their best vacation — try to pull over to the side any time you can to allow others to get by you!
Reciting The Pre-Shows
We know, we know, when you know a ride’s pre-show backwards and forwards, you may find yourself automatically repeating it, and not realizing how it can affect those around you. However, there are tons of people around you who have NEVER experienced the ride before, so hearing you recite the pre-show is really negatively affecting their first ride. They want to hear the original voice actor perform it, not you, no matter how great you might be!
Instead, we recommend mouthing along, or if it’s music, humming along quietly, which likely isn’t going to bother anyone around you. If I’m with someone, I love dramatically mouthing the words and making a face at them (as long as I know THEY don’t mind), and then it’s a private joke between the two of us, instead of impacting everyone around us.
Saving Show Spots To The EXTREME
If you’re trying to save a spot for a parade or fireworks, we know how important it can be, especially during busy times of the year. However, you’re technically not supposed to save spots; it’s first come-first served.
Most Disney World guests don’t mind if you’re quickly saving a spot for someone who just went to throw something away before the show, or it’s still 20ish minutes before the show begins, but if you’re saving a spot an HOUR in advance, and the rest of your party is off riding attractions or getting food and doesn’t come back until 5 minutes before the show, OR you’re saving spots for 4, 5, 6+ people? Yeah, that’s not a great idea, and people around you WILL likely let you know. You also run the risk of someone informing a Cast Member, where you’ll be told that you’re not allowed to save spots.
Judging Other People For How They Do Their Trip
Finally, something that we really can’t stand, whether you’re in the parks OR outside of them, is seeing other people judge others for how THEY choose to do their Disney World trips. The truth is that EVERY single Disney World trip is different, and even if you tried to, you’d never be able to perfectly recreate someone else’s trip.
Not to mention that every person and every group heading to the parks is different too, and what works for one person/group isn’t going to work with others. That’s the beauty of everyone being different! So if you think someone is “wasting” their Disney World trip by spending a day at the hotel, that’s not your job to tell them. That may be what they need to recharge, and they may look at your four FULL park days with no breaks and think, “they’re going to wear themselves out and be exhausted (and potentially even under the weather) by the end of their trip.” It’s also not their job to tell YOU that. It’s great to have conversations and share what we all love to do on our vacations, but we can’t be mad or judgmental when someone chooses to go a different direction.

Don’t scream at your small children. I want to cry when I see that. It’s Disney World. Speak to them aside or later about their behavior. I feel like giving those kids a hug.
I was really surprised when a News Caster said she and family were recently at Disney World and she sent her husband to stand in line for a ride, while she took the kids to meet a character. R. C. D. has 9 children, totally wrong!!!!!!
Serious question – Is it cringey to push in front of people during an outdoor show, then put a child on your shoulders? I’ve gotten to shows early to get a spot only to have a tall dad with a child on their shoulders arrive at the last minute and block my view.
