We’ve got news of a big evacuation out of Disneyland Resort.
On the night of January 8th, CBS News reported a power outage that caused crews to help people off the Monorail.
According to CBS, the Anaheim Police Department said about 60 people were trapped on the Monorail attraction. This was due to a power outage, causing the Monorail to stop on its tracks near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.
Disneyland said the outage happened in the late afternoon and impacted two trains. Nobody was injured in the incident. Below, you can see a video from NBCLA showing the scene with passengers climbing down the fire truck ladder. According to KTLA, passengers were stuck from roughly 3:30 PM until 7 PM on the night of the event. The Anaheim Fire Department arrived around 5 PM due to the issue.

The monorail is currently showing times for today, January 9th, on Disneyland’s website from 8 AM until 11 PM. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an issue like this. In 2024, our team got stuck on a stalled monorail in Disney World without power. We’ve also seen stalls with transportation like the Disney World Skyliner, where guests were stuck for up to 3 hours. While these issues don’t happen frequently, they certainly aren’t new.

Disney World monorail
Disneyland is currently offering its 70th anniversary celebrations, which are running from May 2025 until August 9th, 2026. The park has seen several changes thanks to events like new attractions, new snacks, returning entertainment, and more.

Disney is also working on a major expansion coming to the Anaheim theme parks. From the first-ever Coco-ride to classic attraction updates, there is a lot of change expected to come to Disneyland over the next few years. We will update you when the monorail is back up and running. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news, updates, and more.

How does that type of rescue work with small children that are scared or babies? Glad that there were no reports of injuries.
