There are plenty of dining options at Disney World, and here at DFB, we are huge fans of the resort lounges. These can often be overlooked, but they offer a relaxed atmosphere, and you can usually find scrumptious food and tasty drinks at these tucked-away locations. Plus, they don’t require reservations, so you can stop by whenever you are looking for a bite to eat or just somewhere to relax with a drink.
Martha’s Vineyard at Disney’s Beach Club Resort recently added some new items to its menu. Of course, we had to make a stop by to try them out, and we are bringing you all along with us! Are these new eats and drinks worth a stop by the Beach Club? We are finding out!
Martha’s Vineyard has added quite a few new menu items. Starting off with the Island Fusion Punch for $16.50. It is made with Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Minute Maid Passion Fruit Orange Guava Juice, and pineapple and lime juices. If you are looking for an alcoholic drink where you can’t taste the alcohol, this is the drink for you. You can barely taste the rum against the POG, pineapple, and lime juices. This one can be dangerous as it is sweet, refreshing, and flavorful. We definitely felt the tropical vibes with this one!
We also grabbed the Spiced Dark ‘N Stormy for $17.50. It features Goslings Black Seal Rum, Pineapple Syrup, Carpano Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth, smoked chili bitters, and ginger beer. The rum flavor was much more prominent in this drink. The pineapple and ginger flavors added a fresh and complex taste to the rum. You can taste the smoked chili bitters in the aftertaste, but we liked that it wasn’t overpowering.
Now onto the food! We started with the Charcuterie and Artisanal Cheese Plate for $15. It is a selection of cheeses and seasonal accompaniments. Our plate featured apricots, onion jam, prosciutto, marcona almonds, aged Vermont cheddar, drunken goat cheese, calabrese sausage, pita bread, and blue cheese.
While you get a good selection on this plate, it seemed a bit sparse if you were trying to share with multiple people. The sausage was mildly spiced and had a firm texture. The prosciutto was salty and chewy. We thought the almonds were overly salted and ended up being a bit overpowering with the meats. The cheeses were pretty mild, but they were a good balance to the meats.
We also tried the House Made Chips for $11. These are crispy potato chips with chili, cheese sauce, red onions, and tomatoes. The chips were crispy and held up well to all of the toppings. These are similar to other homemade chips you can find around Disney World, but we thought they were a great choice.
The cheese sauce is mild cheddar, and it is smooth and cheesy. It is everything you would want in a cheese sauce; it may not be the best cheese sauce ever, but it is excellent with the chips. The chili is a bean chili, not a hot dog chili. It is well-spiced and adds a good heartiness to this dish without being overpowering. The red onions and tomatoes added a nice brightness to the dish, although they were a bit hard to taste over the cheese and chili.
Next up was the Red Pepper and Traditional Hummus for $10. It is served with baby carrots, cucumbers, and torta. The veggies were all fresh and crunchy. The torta was thin and crispy, but was still able to hold up to the hummus.
We thought the Red Pepper Hummus had a tangy flavor. It had a bright, punchy flavor, and you could really taste the red pepper. On the other hand, the Traditional Hummus was a bit more tame and had an earthy flavor. Both hummus dips were thick and smooth.
Finally, we also got the Shaved Beef Sliders for $15. These sliders also feature pickled onions and horseradish cream and are served with house-made chips. These come piled high with beef, and we are so here for it! The meat is thick, but we thought it could use a bit more salt.
The red onions and horseradish cream helped a bit, but we were a bit disappointed that it was hard to taste the horseradish. We wish there were more on this to add a bit more flavor. Overall, the sandwich was dry and underseasoned. We were excited about these and initially thought they would be our favorite item, but they turned out to be our least favorite dish we tried.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal. We wouldn’t say these new dishes are worth rushing over to Martha’s Vineyard to grab, though. Our favorites were the House Made Chips and Island Fusion Punch (if you like sweet drinks, otherwise the Spiced Dark N’ Stormy would be the better choice). We thought the Shaved Beef Sliders were going to be our favorite, but the House Made Chips ended up taking that prize.
