When we see new snacks arrive in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, our mouths immediately start to water. ESPECIALLY when we’re talking about Flame Tree Barbecue. (If you know…you know.)
Out of all the Disney World parks, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are famous for some of the most iconic, delicious, and sought-after snacks. When we see Disney release new snacks in either park, we run FASTER than normal to check them out, because we have high expectations. In this case, we headed over to Flame Tree Barbecue for two new snacks that could not be MORE different from one another — one healthy, and one not so healthy. The best part? We loved them BOTH!
Real Disney experts know why we’re so excited to be back at Flame Tree Barbecue. This place is known for its barbecue-sauced snacks, including the beloved Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork and the Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich. Both are EXCELLENT! But what about the new snacks? Will they live up to the hype of this restaurant?

Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork
First up here is the healthier option, the Broccoli Salad for $4.99. This is made with broccoli, cheese, bacon, and golden raisins, and it has an almost coleslaw-like dressing on it.
The broccoli here is slightly cooked, where it still has a bite, but you also aren’t eating raw broccoli, which we enjoyed. The bacon is in little pieces mixed throughout the salad, and it adds a bite of smokiness, meatiness, and crunch. We really like the sweetness from the golden raisins, as well as the coleslaw-like dressing. You don’t see many vegetables in Disney theme parks, so this is a rare win!
While the toppings here do take away the healthiness a bit for this snack, it’s still healthier than many other options! We don’t think it’s something to rush to buy, but if you’re looking to get some veggies presented in a delicious way, this is a great choice.
On the complete opposite side of things, the other new snack is the Pumpkin Cheesecake Pop for $6.29, which is a Pumpkin Cheesecake Slice dipped in a mix of Caramel and Chocolate, topped with Spiced Graham Cracker Crumbs.
This tastes exactly like you would expect (a.k.a. a creamy, pumpkin dream)! We were bummed that lots of the graham cracker crumbs fell off the treat when we picked it up, but that’s our only complaint. The cheesecake has a lot of pumpkin flavor and lots of warming spice flavor like cinnamon and nutmeg (so it’s certainly more pumpkin spice rather than straight pumpkin). It’s similar to a pumpkin pie filling, but more light and fluffy like a cheesecake. If you’re a fan of pumpkin, this is absolutely going to be a winner!

I have enjoyed Flame Tree Barbecue for years. I had at first thought it was paying homage to Hayley Mills’ Flame Trees of Thika. Even though I found out it wasn’t. I was hooked on the chicken. I would get that every time.
