When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. And you don’t even have to stay within the Disney World theme parks, as there are so many great dining options at the surrounding hotels.
We recently stopped by Amare at the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve for dinner, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here!
Atmosphere
Amare is the signature restaurant located inside the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve. The restaurant is inspired by the tastes and cultures of the Mediterranean region, with a focus on highlighting fresh ingredients. Some of these ingredients include seafood, citrus, olive oils, pastas, and pitas. As well, you will find an extensive Mediterranean-based wine list as well.
The restaurant itself is a casual but upscale restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you will notice the dining area is light and airy, with lots of wood accents and blue tones. The kitchen is open to the dining room, so you can even peek in on your meal while it is being made.
You can enjoy breakfast at Amare from 7 AM until 11 AM. Lunch is served from 11:30 AM until 2 PM, and dinner is available from 5 PM until 11 PM. Reservations are recommended for dinner. We recently stopped by to enjoy some dinner, so let’s take a look at the menu!
Menu
There are a lot of options! Starting with mezze and appetizers.
There are also salads and entrees.
Plus, there is a whole section of the menu dedicated to hummus.
There are also special options for kids!
There are also LOTS of options for alcoholic drinks at Amare, including wine flights and sparkling wine by the glass.
There are even Old World whites and New World whites by the glass.
Or, you can get a rose, Old World red, or New World red by the glass.
There are also specialty cocktails available.
As well as a few options for beer.
Let’s take a look at what we got to eat and drink!
Eats
First up, we grabbed Amare’s Signature Ishkabubble Bread for $19. It comes with house-made pita served with red pepper muhammara dip, garlic yogurt dip, and jalapeno shatta. The chef actually came out and talked to us about this dish, which we loved! The name “Ishkabubble” is actually made up, and they created this dish in-house. While it is reminiscent of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, it is not something you will necessarily find there. They crafted the dough so it could get blown up to the size of a basketball, and it comes served with three dips.
The bread was HUGE! It’s hollow in the middle, but it is still a lot of bread, and it definitely makes a statement when it comes out. It is seasoned with a variety of spices on top, and is soft and fluffy. It was a bit messy to eat with the spices on top, but don’t let that deter you — it was delicious and addictive! The spices on top were great, so much so that we’ll be thinking about it for a long time to come.
The Red Pepper Muhammara Dip was our favorite for sure. It had great flavor with some sweetness to it that was balanced out really well with the acidity. It was creamy and full of spice (but it wasn’t spicy at all), and that red pepper flavor came through beautifully.
The Garlic Yogurt Dip was a bit more plain than the other two, but it was a great addition to the other two sauces. It was like a slightly thinned-out Greek yogurt with some garlic flavor to it, which wasn’t overpowering. We highly recommend mixing and matching the sauces — they taste good alone but even better together!
Finally, the Jalapeno Shatta had a lot of herby flavor to it, with the most prominent flavor being parsley. The chef said the seeds were taken out of the jalapenos, so it wasn’t super spicy, but it still had a slight kick to it. It had a bit more of a gritty/chunky texture to it, along with a nuttier taste, similar to walnuts. We were big fans!
For our main meal, we got the Grilled Souvlaki with Angus Beef Skewers for $37. This dish comes with your choice of two grilled tender chicken thighs or Angus beef skewers, with crispy potatoes, tabbouleh, mint pesto, cucumber salad, garlic yogurt sauce, harissa-spiced hummus, and warm pita bread.
The skewers were cooked to medium rare (the waiter asks you how you would like them cooked, but medium rare is the default), and then they are served with a mint pesto and crispy potatoes on top. The meat was a bit on the chewy side, but it had great flavor, and we loved the smokiness in it. The mint pesto added a great pop of acidity and freshness to the meat, and the crispy potatoes were great with their crunchy texture!
The Grilled Pita was incredible with its slight char, but the pita was still soft and fluffy. You can dip it in the hummus that comes on the plate, or our waitress also left our dips from our bread, so we used those too!
The Tabbouleh was full of herby flavor, and the grain was soft while still having a bit of texture to it. Some diced up tomatoes and cucumbers in it added some freshness, which we loved!
We were so glad we loved this dish, and can’t recommend it enough!
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Journey through Greece Wine Flight for $23. This flight features some of Greece’s signature varietals. It features a 3oz tasting of each: Zoe, Roditis, Peloponnese, 2020, Croix de Peyrassol, Mediterranee, 2020, Boutari Kretikos, Crete, 2019.
The White Blend Peloponnese is served chilled and is on the sweeter side, but not like Moscato sweet. It was very fruity tasting and didn’t taste super acidic. It almost had a flatness to it, which helped make it lighter and very easy to drink.
Then there was the Rose Peloponnese, which is also served chilled. This was probably the sweetest of all three and tastes a lot like cherry or strawberry. It was light and refreshing and very easy to sip on, which we loved!
Finally, the Red Blend Peloponnese was our favorite! We feel like this one had the most complex flavor. It started very fruity with lots of cherry flavor, and finished with a kind of leathery flavor Then it left a good aftertaste of a kind of cocoa flavor, so it really took us on a journey!
We love that this gives you a great chance to expand your wine palette without spending money on a full glass of wine you may not like!
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re looking for a fantastic sit-down dining meal
- You want to expand your wine palette
- You love trying new dishes and aren’t picky
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re a pickier eater
- You’re not near the Swan and Dolphin hotels
- You want a quick meal that gets you in and out
Overall
While we loved all our dining choices here, we also adored the service! Our server, Kim, was so kind and attentive, and was so great about checking on us and other tables throughout the meal. The restaurant also didn’t hesitate to pack up our leftovers for us, which we so appreciated! While this restaurant is certainly more on the fancy side, it also still has a relaxed atmosphere to it. We couldn’t recommend it more if you’re looking for a delicious, relaxing meal on your next vacation.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
