We’re gonna be real with you — sometimes the things that make your Disney World trip way better are not the things you want to be photographed in.
And today’s find? Oh, you’ll get some looks. But your future self (and your future dry feet) will be thanking you.
They’re not cute. They’re not subtle. They are, however, an absolute game-changer if you’re going to Disney World in literally any month of the year — because Florida weather LOVES to ambush you.
We’re talking about Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers — basically stretchy, zippered, slip-resistant rain jackets for your sneakers. They go right over your shoes, zip up, and keep the rain, puddles, and park grime out of your socks. They look like something your grandma might wear to prune her roses… but in the best possible way.
Why We’re Into Them
Here’s the deal: we did not think these things were going to work. When one of our team members first brought a pair, let’s say that we made a bit of fun at their look. Then we walked through a Florida rainstorm together, and they came out dry while I was squishing with every step. Naturally, I asked to try theirs, and I’m now a believer.
They’re made from 100% high-quality, non-toxic silicone rubber. They stretch, they’re reusable, and they’ve got a slip-resistant tread that’s actually better than some regular shoes I’ve worn in the parks. They even have a waterproof zipper strip so you can get them on and off quickly (and so the zipper itself doesn’t leak).
Sizing Notes
If you’re in between sizes or on the upper edge of a size range? Size up.
The zipper top is snug, which is great for keeping water out, but it can get uncomfortable if they’re too tight. We definitely recommend going for the bigger size if you’re unsure.
Do They Work?
Yes. And that’s the most shocking part.
They kept my sneakers totally dry in one of those classic “the skies just split open” Florida downpours. The only time I noticed water getting in was when I had a gap at the top (my bad) and was walking against the rain, so it was hitting my legs directly and trickling down. If you keep them fitted snugly to your pants or leggings, you’re golden.
Why You Might Actually Need These at Disney World
Florida weather is chaos. One second it’s 90 degrees and sunny, the next it’s a sideways rainstorm that lasts an hour. If you’ve ever had to walk around the parks with soaked socks and shoes, you know it’s… unpleasant. They never fully dry, they start to smell, and then you have to figure out how to pack them for the trip home without ruining everything else in your suitcase. These shoe covers keep that from happening.
Even if you think, I’ll just wear sandals when it rains, keep in mind that wet pavement + sandals + twelve miles of walking = blisters you do not want.
Where You’ll Use Them
They’re great for:
- Surprise Disney rainstorms
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure-level soakings
- Walking through puddles after a storm
- Muddy park pathways during construction zones
- Even keeping your shoes clean while grabbing groceries or luggage in a downpour
But they’re also super handy outside of Disney — beach trips, camping, fishing, hiking, cycling, and gardening. They fold up small so you can just toss them in your park bag.
The Bottom Line
You might look a little silly. People might stare. They might even laugh. But when they’re sloshing around in their soaked sneakers and you’re walking in comfort, you’ll get the last laugh.
Trust us — throw a pair in your park bag. You’ll forget you even have them… until the first storm rolls in and you become the driest, happiest person in Disney World.

Love them but word to the wise, beware of rain-slick tile type flooring. These galoshes didn’t have enough traction to keep me from doing a full on splat on the Disney Springs walkway.
Very slippery!!! I also did a full on splat-in Hollywood Studios. Came home to find out I had torn my meniscus. 🙁
