Staying in a Disney World hotel gets you a lot of perks, but staying at a deluxe Disney World hotel comes with a few extra perks.
Of course, you get free tickets to a water park for the day of your arrival. In addition, you have access to Disney World’s expansive transportation system to make your way around the resort. Then there’s Early Theme Park Entry for all parks. Deluxe Disney World hotel guests also get Extended Evening Hours, and this week, Extended Evening Hours will be returning to Magic Kingdom on August 13th.
Extended Evening Hours gives Disney World deluxe hotel guests two extra hours in a theme park after the park officially closes. That means you get extra time in Magic Kingdom to really experience the park at night (warning, though: Fantasyland is DARK at night).
Extended Evening Hours also means shorter lines for rides, and trust me, I’ve been to Magic Kingdom for Extended Evening Hours, and it is SO NICE when everything, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, is practically a walk-on. Plus, you’ll get to ride TRON Lightcycle/Run at night with a shorter line — and it was MEANT to be experienced at night. So it’s one hotel perk you’ll certainly want to take advantage of.
If you will be taking advantage of Extended Evening Hours in Magic Kingdom, here’s a full list of what’s open during that time:
- “it’s a small world”
- Astro Orbiter
- The Barnstormer
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Country Bear Musical Jamboree
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Haunted Mansion
- Mad Tea Party
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Swiss Family Treehouse
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
- Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Extra evening hours should be for ALL Disney Resort guests not just Deluxe! Extra morning hours are a joke I mean 1 hour really?
The extended evening hours may not always be a great advantage. During our stay this past May, we found both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot extended hours to be just as crowded as during the day. Tron even had a longer wait time than earlier that day. When we left Magic Kingdom, because it was too crowded, there were still people streaming in for the night so I don’t think the lines would have gotten much better even if we had stayed longer.
Does this mean that extended evenings hours are back for good? Or just this week? We are going the first week of december. Will they be back then?
How does Disney do this? Do you have to leave the park and re-enter?
It would be nice if they could extend it to the Moderate and Value resorts as well.
Disney has shown over the last 5 years that they are more interested in Deluxe Resort guests and DVC guests than those of us that save for our trip and then choose to stay at value or moderate resorts because all we really need is a bed and shower, so we choose to not spend a huge amount of money on a room we are not going to be in except to sleep and shower. That being said, I’m glad they are bringing back extended hours and hope they see the “value” of all of their guests.
Use to be extended hours for all hotels. Not fair that they didn’t bring it back for everyone.
I remember when Disney World Parks used to closed at Midnight or 1 A.M. I guess Disney make to much $$$$ to do that again. They guess rather give that to Iger for bonuses insted taking care of the worker’s.
