The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that it would open security lanes dedicated to families and military service members at airports across the United States.
“Families on the Fly” will create dedicated security lines for families with small children, while the “Honor Lane” will expedite security checkpoints for military service members and their families. And now, one of those lanes has officially opened at Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Families traveling with small children can now use dedicated family-friendly lanes when going through security at the Orlando Airport, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The lanes are part of a new program aiming to minimize stress for travelers lugging strollers and diaper bags with them.
Originally, this was just a pilot program being tested at Orlando Airport — since so many families fly in and out on their Disney World trips — but now, the lane is officially open. The policy is being called “Families on the Fly” and will be rolling out at more airports this year.
In addition, the “Honor Lane” — for military members and families — opened in Nashville in June and is available at 11 different airports, with plans to expand near more military bases soon.
These changes come shortly after it was announced that travelers would no longer be required to take their shoes off while going through TSA security checkpoints.
It has also been suggested that TSA may change its liquid policy, allowing passengers to carry larger quantities of them in their luggage.

Is there a special line for handicap in wheelchairs?
Went through Orlando yesterday and the family line, while it sounds good, was definitely a fail for us. There’s tons of families going through there and the TSA precheck and non family lines were much shorter. They didn’t have enough agents on the family line and non family people were walking straight up to agents where we had a 10 minute wait.
Good in theory, awful in current practice.
