Okay, so a WHOLE LOT is going on in Magic Kingdom at the moment. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed to get a bit of an upgrade, and a new Cars expansion, Piston Peak, is being built over what was once Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Then a Villains land is moving in behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
In Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be closing soon to get some updates. Astro Orbiter just reopened after a refurbishment. In Fantasyland, the indoor playground in the Dumbo queue has been closed since February and was supposed to open in spring 2025 (it didn’t). Well, as of today, that playground has partially opened and kids can play in it again.
We were visiting Magic Kingdom today, specifically Fantasyland, to check out the new verse added to “it’s a small world.” Then we noticed that something at Dumbo the Flying Elephant had changed — the playground in the queue had kids in it. Yes, it was open and kids were taking advantage of it.
However, not all of the playground is open to children. The part with the netting is closed, meaning that you can’t access that second pathway that leads up to the netting.
Note that during the playground’s refurbishment, the Dumbo ride remained open and is still open for anyone who wants to ride the classic Disney attraction.
