Due to weather conditions across Central and South Florida, airline operations — including flights and baggage — may be impacted. In fact, over 200 flights have been delayed at MCO this afternoon. Here’s what you need to know.
Heads up, travelers! Orlando International Airport shared an update on social media, warning that airline operations may be impacted by weather conditions across South Florida. Flight and baggage delivery delays may occur.

Travelers are being urged to check with their airline directly for any updates regarding their flight or current operations.
According to the flight data website FlightAware, there are currently 237 delayed flights for Orlando International Airport, including both arrivals and departures. In addition, 33 flights have been canceled due to the inclement weather.
The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season recently started, but summertime in general also brings an influx of thunderstorms in the afternoon on many days. Storms and heavy rain can easily delay planes, even if the storm is only supposed to be around for half an hour.
Storms like these are most likely to hit in late afternoon, as the heat of the day reaches its breaking point. Lightning can also be present without the accompaniment of rain, but it can delay planes all the same. Orlando International Airport (MCO) saw 350 delays in ONE afternoon on May 25th, solely due to afternoon storms, and this is likely similar to what is happening now.
Because of this, we recommend morning flights during summer — but even during the fall and winter. Afternoon storms are less likely to affect flights during the cooler times of year, but they can still happen. Again, this isn’t foolproof, as other storm systems can come through unexpectedly at any time of year, but this is a good way to cross at least one potential issue off your list!
We’ll be on the lookout for more weather updates that might impact your upcoming travel plans. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest travel news and more!
