Between the parks, the resorts, and the Downtown Disney District, the Disneyland Resort is filled with so many different dining options!

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes
We recently stopped by Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes at Downtown Disney. We’re here to tell you if we think it’s worth a stop on your next Disneyland trip!
Atmosphere
The sit-down restaurant has a very chill and modern feel to it. You can choose to sit outside, or inside at a table, or at the counter. We think this could be a good place to go to with friends or family. It offers unique craft burgers and shakes, and its location in Downtown Disney gives you lots to do before and after eating.

Black Tap!
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
Black Tap offers guests both classic shakes and their specialty “Crazyshakes”. There’s a vast variety of flavors to choose from, so there really is something for everyone here. You’ll even see they have special edition shakes, like the Mickey Mouse one!

The place also offers a ton of appetizers, wings, and specialty craft burgers — which is what they’re known for.

We all know what you came here for, though, so let’s get to the food!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Texan BBQ Wings with Hot Fries for $28. This was six wings with sweet BBQ and scallions served with house buttermilk-dill.

Texan BBQ Wings
The wings were tender and came right off the bone! The BBQ sauce was full of brown sugar and sweet flavors. The dill house ranch was creamy and tangy, and the light tang was the perfect complement to other creamy and sweet flavors going on! They also served the Hot Fries with this as a half order.

The fries were ok
The fries weren’t as much of a hit for us. We found they were a little soggy from the ranch and pickles sitting there. Maybe it was because we took a while to get to them, but just something to be aware of. Regardless of that, we weren’t huge fans of the flavors. The ranch really overpowered both the flavor of the spices AND the fries. On top of that, these were pretty messy.
Next, we had the Fried Mozz for $13.50. This was served with smoky chipotle tomato sauce.

Fried Mozz!
The outside was pretty crispy with a kind of buttermilk-y and salty flavor. Inside was the mozzarella, which had a kind of milky/creamy cheese flavor to it. Surprisingly, the dip was our favorite part of this!

Give these a try!
It had that sweet and savory marinara flavor, mixed with a light smoky flavor. Bonus points for the sauce because there was more cheese in it!
After that, it was time for the main dish. We tried the Black Truffle Burger for $25. This was Wagyu beef, Havarti cheese, baby arugula, Truffle-Yuzu Vinaigrette, black garlic peppercorn aioli, shaved parmesan, truffle oil, served with lettuce, tomato, a pickle, and French fries.

Black Truffle Burger
When we ordered this, the Cast Member actually suggested we order the Wagyu beef medium well. We ended up getting it done medium, and it was honestly a perfect medium. The patty had a fattier taste than your normal beef patty, it was juicy and nearly melted in my mouth! We had no complaints on the patty, it was top tier!

The dish was so good!
All of the veggies on the burger were fresh, and they added a nice refreshing crunch to go with the rich and fatty patty. The peppercorn aioli was a little hard to taste, and the same goes for the parmesan or havarti.

You should try this!
The cheese flavor was still there, but it was second to the beef and truffle flavors this had going on. The truffle had a savory, almost meaty flavor going on. Other than the fact that we found the bun was a little too small for the patty, we really enjoyed it!
Drinks
To drink, we had to pick up the Special Edition CrazyShake™ featuring Disney Mickey Mouse for $25.50. It was a strawberry shake with a vanilla frosted rim with Mickey Mouse-shaped sprinkles topped with a house-made Mickey Mouse-shaped crispy treat, white and red rock candy, whipped cream, red sprinkles, and a cherry.

Look at this thing!
Ok, we know it looks absolutely crazy, it really does! And it IS! It’s huge, and super photogenic.

Mickey Mouse Shake detail
However, there weren’t a lot of unique flavors with this thing. It was mostly just strawberry ice cream (which was pretty fresh and vibrant). The whipped cream also soaked down into the ice cream, which added hints of vanilla throughout the strawberry ice cream. The Mickey crispy treat was just ok, and the Mickey design had a pretty artificial sugary chocolate taste to it.

It was tasty…but pricey
You may think $25 is a lot for this…and you’d be right! This isn’t worth the high cost, in our opinion. It still tasted good, but the toppings are mostly for looks, and it’ll get melty and messy quick. We would just get a normal shake instead.
Nosh or Not
This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re looking for a spot in the nice Downtown Disney District. Downtown Disney has lots to offer — if you’re looking to explore the area or maybe do a little shopping, stop by here for a bite.
- You’re in the mood for a milkshake! This place is known for its craft shakes, and there are so many different flavors to try. There is a to-go window where you can get a shake if you aren’t wanting to sit down for a full meal.
You should skip this Disneyland spot if…
- You want something more budget-friendly! This spot was a little on the pricier side for some items, but maybe that’s just Disney.
- You want something more “Disney”! You’re at Disneyland, so we get it, you want a more “Disney” themed dining spot. Most of them are in the parks, but the hotels offer dining as well. So if you want it to feel more Disney, try the hotels!
Overall
Overall, it was a nice place to eat at. They offer great craft foods and drinks, and a wide variety of options for guests. It is a little on the pricier side, so prepare for that. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
