Now is a GREAT time of year to head to Disney Springs, because there are even MORE dining options than usual!
Now through August 10th, you can experience Flavors of Florida in Disney Springs, which is where multiple of the most iconic and popular restaurants in the district introduce exclusive menu offerings to celebrate summer! We’ve been trying LOADS of the different offerings today, and these are just some of the ones you’ll want to consider adding to your “must-try” list.
Chicken Guy!
Chicken Guy! is one of our favorite spots in Disney Springs, especially for picky eaters. During Flavors of Florida, you can try the new Key Lime Shake for $6.99. This is Creamy vanilla ice cream blended with Key lime custard and graham cracker crumbs, topped with whipped cream.
We loved the pieces of graham crackers throughout the shake, because they added a great texture. It’s extremely smooth, sweet (but the key lime flavor isn’t overpowering), and it’s hard to beat this deal! It’s easy to walk around with as you shop and explore, and if you’re a fan of key lime pie, this is certainly one to try out.
Earl of Sandwich
Over at Earl of Sandwich, you can grab TWO new treats! The first is the Earl’s Big Flounder Sandwich for $10.99, and it’s Breaded flounder fillets, tartar sauce, and dill pickles topped with Earl’s Signature Coleslaw.
We’ll say, the breaded founder fillets are good here, but the texture is a little strange since the breading is more like a Tostino’s Pizza Roll. There’s also a LARGE amount of coleslaw on here, so if you’re a fan of fish with coleslaw, you’ll be a fan, but otherwise, you may want to pick some of it off. We think it was a little too adventurous for our taste, and we would have preferred it to be a little more traditional seafood-esque, but if you love all these ingredients, we say give it a try!
You can also grab the Key Lime Cheesecake Danish for $9.99, which is an Oven-baked pastry with a light Key lime cheesecake filling.
This was fantastic! It’s buttery, flaky, and the inside is just underbaked enough that it makes it the perfect soft texture. We will say that there’s only a small tidbit of the key lime flavor — it’s more like a cheese danish. However, we feel $9.99 is too expensive for a treat of this size, even though we loved it.
If you’re planning on getting it, we say it’s worth it, but it’s a TRUE treat because of that price.
Amorette’s Patisserie
Over at one of our favorite dessert spots, think about picking up the Orange Mousse for $8. This is Orange mousse layered with orange jam, citrus chiffon and a Grand Marnier-soaked hazelnut financier.
The main orange mousse tastes like an orange dreamsicle that is coated in chocolate, then it’s filled with an orange marmalade. The orange flavor is strong, but it’s a lighter flavor, not a smack you in the face kind of orange flavor. It’s sweet, not overly tart, but we’re not sure how we feel about the mousse — it’s kind of like a jello texture but with creaminess to it.
The moist cake on the bottom has nuts in it and has a strong spiced hazelnut flavor. However, we don’t think it goes well with the rest of the treat, because it overpowers the flavor. It was good, but we don’t think it’d be something that we’d get again.
Coca-Cola Rooftop Bar
If you’re looking for a refreshing drink, grab the Tangy Watermelon Sunrise for $12.50! It’s made with Lemonade, watermelon purée, chamoy sauce, and topped with a lemonade/pickle juice foam.
This thing is SPICY! It’s tangy, will make your mouth pucker, but we LOVED it! It’s nonalcoholic, but if you were to add some mezcal to this, you’d have yourself a watermelon margarita. The watermelon is very subtle and soft, similar to a watermelon Jolly Rancher.
However, if you don’t do well with spice, we wouldn’t recommend — it’ll BURN the back of your throat, and you may not be able to sip on it for very long.
eet by Maneet Chauhan
There’s a new drink available at eet for the event! Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset is $15.95 and is made of Vodka, orange juice, candied orange syrup, and a splash of grenadine. What’s extra special about this drink is that they have different little octopi that go on top! We got to choose ours, but we’re unsure if that’s normally the case, or if one will be chosen for you.
This tastes like an alcoholic orange Dreamsicle. It’s very sweet, and the most prominent flavor is the orange juice; however, you can clearly taste the sharpness from the vodka. We only drank a little bit of it before we started feeling it, so it IS pretty strong. You barely taste the grenadine, but it is there ever so slightly, especially on the back end.
You can kind of taste it on the back end. If you enjoy sweet drinks, this one is for you (or if you just really love the little animals)!
Sunshine Churros
We also grabbed the Orange Jelly Churro Donut for $7.99! This is a churro donut shaken in sugar, topped with orange marmalade jelly, a dollop of whipped cream, and an edible orange gummy slice.
This was good, but nothing too special. It’s essentially a round churro filled with orange marmalade. The churro was actually fantastic — crispy and sugary on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. It takes about 3 minutes to make it, and we’re not sure if it was made to order, but it did taste pretty fresh. The orange marmalade was sweet and filled with orange peel, but it’s probably just the marmalade you can get in a jar from the store (not that that’s bad, it’s just not homemade), and it paired well with the churro.
