Do you feel like it’s been hotter than normal lately? Don’t worry — it’s not just you.
According to CNN, a “heat wave is underway for the eastern half of the United States as a potent heat dome reaches its peak,” creating the hottest temperatures we’ve seen this year, so far.
CNN predicts that over 250 daily temperature records could be broken during this heat wave. Cities like Philadelphia and Boston might be the hottest they’ve been in any month in over a decade.
For some locations, the temperature is about 15 to 20 degrees above average. The National Weather Service has said over 150 million people are under heat alerts, and this brutal heat can cause heat-related illnesses for children, the elderly, and people with pre-existing health conditions.
The heat is the deadliest form of weather, and even nighttime temperatures are rising faster than daytime highs.
While Florida is not getting the most extreme heat, it is definitely feeling the effects. If you are visiting during the heat wave, be sure to stay safe, drink plenty of water, and stay indoors as much as possible. You might need to take more breaks during your Disney World day than you’re used to, and this could be a great trip to try more indoor experiences, like longer dinners inside.
The insanely hot days can also make it harder for aircraft to take off, so be aware that there might be delays in your travel.
Since this is all in June, it is likely just a preview of the heat we can expect in July and August, the hottest months of the year. It feels like summer has just started, so make sure you’re keeping track of weather updates and doing what you need to stay cool.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this and sharing all our tips and tricks for staying cooler in the heat. Remember that the best thing you can do is be aware of how it’s affecting your family and make decisions based on your specific situation. Keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

Every summer forecasters say our temperatures “COULD’ break all time records. If records were broke every year , then after ten years of these types models (could rather than a will) we would be a over 130 degrees every day of July. Its gonna be hot, be prepared and hit water parks, pools and air conditioned opportunities. Avoid from 10 to 2 being in the sun if you can. Rope drop and come back for closing time. Don’t curse the showers…Rain is a good thing. Have fun!!
