The live-action adaptation of the Disney princess who started it all will finally be coming to Disney+ on June 11th. Of course, we’re talking about Snow White!

The movie stars Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and Gal Gadot (Evil Queen), as they reimagine the Disney animated 1937 classic film. Follow the journey of Snow White who flees from the Evil Queen, and finds refuge with Dopey, Bashful, Grumpy, Sneezy, Happy, Doc, and Sleepy. When the palace guards embark on a mission determined to bring her back, a commoner and his group of woodland bandits band together to protect her.

Although it’s inspired by the Disney animated classic, there are quite a few changes that were made to the film. The film wasn’t that well received in theatres, becoming a box office flop, and earning a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes (however, it did get a decent 71% audience score). The movie grossed $205.5 million worldwide at the box office, falling short of the $400 million production and marketing budget.

Maybe fans just didn’t think it was worth watching in theatres, and were waiting for this moment to give it a try. Snow White is a fan-favorite princess, and maybe more people just need to give this film a try. If you love musicals, the movie features 11 songs. The new ones are composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who composed the music for La La Land. You’ll get to hear new songs like “Good Things Grow” and “A Hand Meets A Hand.” Of course, the movie also features the classics we all know and love, including “Whistle While You Work” and “Heigh-Ho.”

It’ll be interesting to see what the viewership count is like on streaming, based on how it was received in the theatres. The talk around this movie has died down quite a bit due to Disney’s NEWEST live-action adaptation, which has become a hit so far. Lilo and Stitch earned $610 million worldwide after just ten days in the theatre, and it has all the buzz right now. Fans might want to just move past the Snow White flop, and anticipate Lilo and Stitch coming to streaming instead (but that won’t be for a while).
