When it comes to dining options, it’s probably no secret to anyone reading this that Walt Disney World has a robust amount of dining options. Between the resort’s theme parks, hotels, and Disney Springs, there are options for every palate. However, anytime we’re in the mood for a definitive Southern meal, we head to Art Smith’s Homecomin’.
Located in Disney Springs, Art Smith’s Homecomin’ opened back in 2016. The restaurant’s menu focuses on cuisine inspired by “Florida agriculture and the recipes of Chef Art’s family table” with a heavy emphasis on Southern comfort foods. There are regional favorites like deviled eggs, fried pickles, and chicken fried steak on the menu. However, there’s one combo we always find ourselves going back to!
Let’s begin with the appetizer: the Bunch of Puppies. These house-made hushpuppies are served with pimento cheese and red jalapeño jelly. The $15 appetizer provides a decent amount of food, and is the perfect opening act of a definitive southern meal.
After downing the puppies, it’s time for the main event. For $32, there’s the delectable Fried Chicken and Doughnuts. We ADORE this entire dish, which includes two pieces of Chef Art Smith’s famous fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and – – maybe the best part – – hand-crafted glazed donuts from EVERGLAZED.
The boneless chicken is well-salted and seasoned, with a crunchy breading. That crunch pairs perfectly with the buttery, soft, and oh-so-creamy mashed potatoes. Then it’s all combined with the soft and sweet glazed doughnuts to create a perfectly filling Southern meal, especially when paired with the restaurant’s signature sweet tea!
If you’re looking for an ideal southern meal at Walt Disney World, get down to Art Smith’s Homecookin’ at Disney Springs ASAP. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World dining tips.
