We’re back for yet another food review, so be sure to grab a snack if you’re hungry before you keep reading!
We’re live at the 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts, checking out the food studios, artistic performances, merchandise, and more. There’s a LOT going on, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Come with us to check out the El Artista Hambriento (The Hungry Artist) booth and see if it’s worth your time and money at this year’s festival!
Menu
Over at the El Artista Hambriento, you’ll find five returning menu items – and one new cocktail! Mexico loves to knock it out of the park with festival booths, and we’re excited to see how this year’s lineup stacks up!
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Carne Asada for $10.75. Now, we’ve seen this in years past, but its ingredients have changed up a bit this year. It’s made with Chipotle-marinated beef sirloin with pasilla chile sauce, grilled queso fresco, Nopales salad, and chicharron dust. Okay, we have one word to describe this dish: “incredible.” The beef was cooked to perfection, but that grilled queso fresco underneath the beef was CHEF’S KISS. Cheese generally makes everything better, after all. It also had a unique flavor profile plus a cool texture thanks to the crunchy chicharron dust on top. This is easily the star of the whole show. Anyway, we’ll be back to eat this again and again.
Next, let’s check out the Croqueta for $8. It’s made with Chipotle chicken and chorizo croquette in chipotle salsa with chipotle aioli, avocado mousse, and truffle oil. The chicken had a nice crunch on the outside, but inside the meat was moist. However, the salsa was WAY spicier than we expected — and we mean that in a good way. It’s not Disney spicy, it’s ACTUALLY spicy. That spice does overwhelm some of the other flavors, but we like heat, and this was another solid item.
If these little beautiful nuggets of deliciousness seem familiar, you’re not crazy. Jaleo, over in Disney Springs, has a similar version on the menu year-round, or you can grab another version of them from the Pepe.
Finally, something sweet! We’re digging into the Natilla de Maiz for $6.50. Though this treat is new to the Festival of the Arts, we’ve had it waaaaaaaayyyyy back in 2012 when it was part of the Mexico food booth for the 2012 Food & Wine Festival. This treat is a lovely, rich flan made with cajeta, a Mexican delicacy similar to (but oh-so-much yummier than) sweetened condensed milk. we kinda expected it to be savory, but nope, it was sweet!
It’s almost like a sweet flan and even has a similar texture. There aren’t huge chunks of corn in it or anything — it’s smooth. The candied popcorn on top adds a nice crunch, plus it just makes the whole thing look nice. We give it an A+ for both taste and presentation.
Drinks
In terms of drinks on this menu, we got the new Floridita for $16.50. This fun cocktail is made with Centinela Blanco Tequila, citrus juice, orange liqueur, and grapefruit soda with a hint of Aperol. It’s basically an orange margarita and although the description says a “hint of Aperol,” we tasted more of it (and it can taste medicinal). However, the orange liqueur balances it all out, so you end up with a citrusy refreshing beverage.
And wrapping up this booth is the Strawberry Fields Margarita for $15.50. This fun cocktail is made with Tromba Blanco Tequila, Dos Hombres Mezcal, strawberry purée, and blackcurrant liqueur. First off, you have to like mezcal to appreciate this drink because it will have that smoky flavor. This drink is very balanced between that smokiness and the strawberry puree that wasn’t too tart.
The drink was just well-balanced.
OVERALL
We’re just going to say it now: this is one of our favorite EPCOT Festival of the Arts booths. Everything we had here was not just solid, but went above and beyond as far as flavor and balance goes. Don’t be surprised when we list El Artista Hambriento as one of our Best of the Fest picks.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
