It’s not uncommon to see Disney World rides close every now and then for refurbishment.
Sometimes the closures are short, only a week or so, and other times they need MAJOR work and are closed for months at a time (we’re looking at you Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster). If you’re heading into Magic Kingdom this upcoming week, you need to know about this ride closure!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, one of the most popular rides in the park, will be closing for a temporary closure starting on January 16th.
The closure will last through January 20th (expected to reopen for normal operating hours January 21st) and is for routine maintenance on the ride.
This refurbishment is actually a great thing, because it means Disney is keeping the ride in the best condition it can be to continue to run smoothly for guests. It also ensures the ride continues to stay safe for guests.
So what does this mean for your visit in the park? Well, you won’t be able to ride Big Thunder, which is a bit of a bummer, but you’ll also want to prepare for other wait times in the park to rise, especially other roller coasters in the park like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain.
