Even if you love flying (one question: why?) you probably still deal with the occasional travel headache now and again.
Starting your trip off on the wrong foot can really set the tone for the whole experience. But, one airline has announced that it’ll be streamlining its boarding process — meaning you might be able to have a less stressful experience. Here’s everything we know!
United Airlines has announced it will be changing its boarding policy to try and speed the process up at the airport, according to NPR.
As of October 26th, 2023, travelers with basic economy tickets will be boarded by window seats, middle seats, and then aisle seats. United shared that they’ve estimated this will cut boarding time by “up to two minutes.”
The process for pre-boarding groups like unaccompanied minors, families with small kids, people with disabilities, and active-duty military members will not change. Groups one through three will remain unchanged, but group four will now be for middle seat passengers with group five reserved for aisle seats.
There will also be a sixth boarding group for domestic flights and flights to the Caribbean and Central America for basic economy passengers who are missing a group number on their boarding pass.
It sounds like this could potentially make boarding your next United Airlines flight a bit faster — albeit by an estimated two minutes. But hey, it’s the thought that counts?
