There are a lot of things in the Encanto universe we don’t talk about (sorry, Bruno).
Now that we think of it…the only thing we don’t talk about is Bruno. When it comes to Encanto, the beauty and magic in the film are something that we think about regularly. Recently, we found some reasons for you to think about it, too!
The producer of Encanto, Yvett Merino, sat down with Deadline and teased a few possible ideas that could be coming in the near(ish) future. While none of them are confirmed yet, we NEED to tell you about them.
Merino mentioned, “we continue to look at different ways that we can keep the world alive.” There are SO many ways that they can keep this film alive, and she spoke about a few during this interview.

“We’re working closely with our friends in publishing and consumer products to make sure — there’s always different ideas and needs and wants for, for it to stay alive out there,” said Merino. There weren’t any specifics of what they’re working with those teams on, but we’re hoping it is something BIG.
During the interview, Merino said, “I know they teased a little bit of Destination D23 about something Encanto coming, possibly to one of the parks. And we love that…”. Disney has been in talks about retheming Dinoland USA into the Tropical Americas — which is the PERFECT setting for an Encanto-inspired area.
Merino said that she had nothing official to say, so it looks like we’ll have to wait on Disney for some further announcements about this retheme in the future!
There are so many different possibilities of how they can keep Encanto alive (just ask Casita!). Merino stated that they will “continue to work on what that actually means.” We’re hoping it means more cute merch or a park expansion…but we’ll see what gets announced in the future!
In the meantime, we’ll keep an ear out and update you with more Encanto news as it comes. Keep checking back with us at DFB for those updates!
