If you’re headed to Disney World in the fall, it’s important to note that up until late November or early December, you can expect to run into quite a few rain showers and even storms.
While everyone’s mind typically gravitates toward the idea of hurricanes being the main storms to affect Disney World, tornadoes are another culprit that can catch visitors off guard, especially if they aren’t from a region where they are common. We try to stay on the lookout to warn our readers of when these storms are happening or about to happen, and today, we’re here with a warning!
Orange County, Florida is currently under a tornado watch, while the neighboring Osceola County is under a wind advisory — as of 9:30AM on October 12th. You can continue to monitor the area by clicking here. If you take a look at the image below, the yellow represents the areas currently under a tornado watch.
Now, a tornado watch isn’t too much of a concern until the conditions are met for it to become a tornado warning. To keep you and your crew safe, it’s important to check the weather regularly to ensure that the watch hasn’t progressed to a warning. Plus, dangerous situations can still occur even before a watch becomes a warning.
Even if the watch remains a watch, it’s still important to make decisions based on what would make you feel safest. Currently, our reporters are telling us that winds were very heavy on the drive to the parks, and it’s pretty overcast.
Stay aware and stay informed, and that will ensure that you stay safe! It’s unlikely that Disney will close the parks, however, there will be multiple ride closures if lightning, heavy rain, and high winds affect the area.
We’ll be sure to keep you all in the loop when it comes to inclement weather, so make sure to follow along for more so that you never miss a thing.
