We think the 999 Haunted Mansion ghosts are at it again…
It’s officially spooky season in Disney World, and things are already looking festive! Which is a perfectly good time for Disney to…close the Haunted Mansion for refurbishment? The ride was scheduled to reopen on August 10th after a brief closure, but it doesn’t look as though things are going according to plan…
Bad news, friends — the Haunted Mansion is still closed in Disney World! The ride was supposed to reopen on August 10th after a brief closure from August 7th to 9th.
But, as we headed over to the attraction to check out what had potentially changed, we realized that it failed to reopen as planned.
There were plenty of people waiting around just in case it might suddenly open, but for now, you’ll have to find your happy haunts elsewhere.
Cast Members shared that this closure is due to technical difficulties and is not related to the recent refurbishment. They said to keep checking the My Disney Experience app for the latest info as they weren’t sure when it may reopen. Not only that, but when we asked if the Hatbox Ghost had been added, Cast Members told us that “no new show effects” would be present after the refurbishment — but we’re still not totally convinced.
The Hatbox Ghost has been at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion for a while now, but Disney recently announced that he would be coming to Disney World as well. The only timeline for the ghost’s arrival is sometime in 2023, so while it’s possible this is what Disney has been working on, we will have to wait and see.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on this closure and let you know of any updates. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news and more!
