We’re back with more Food and Wine Festival news, friends!
The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival officially began today and there’s a LOT to see. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab, and even entertainment to enjoy! Things can feel overwhelming, we know, but don’t worry, we’re here to guide you through it. Come with us to experience the Japan Booth!
Menu
Over at the Japan Booth, you’ll find six items total, and FIVE of them are NEW!
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Fire Taiko Roll, which is a sushi roll with spicy tuna, cucumber, and pickled Daikon Radish served with spicy sauce. This is a really nice spicy tuna that wasn’t overwhelmingly hot, but was a little bit controversial with our team members.
It’s very flavorful and the cucumbers are perfectly crunchy. Texturally it has a really good balance. This is a new item this year that you can get for $8.
Then we grabbed the Beef Wa-Gyu Don, which is also new this year! It’s $9.75 and is a traditional Japanese rice bowl made with American Wagyu Beef over steamed white rice, with a quail egg on top. The beef is pretty heavy and the onions are almost caramelized, which makes it a little sweet.
The quail egg doesn’t add a whole lot of flavor, but the peppers add a really nice crunch to it all. These elements all balance with each other really well!
The one returning item this year is the Teriyaki Chicken Bun, which is a steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables, and teriyaki sauce for $7.50. This is absolutely one of the best items at the festival, and it’s about 60% bao, 40% filling. It’s nice and meaty, but that teriyaki is sweet enough to complement the dough.
We see why this one is a favorite year after year! We’d come back and order this again for SURE.
Now on to the beverages!
Drinks
All the drinks here are new this year, but we chose the Sake Passion Cocktail. It’s $8.75. This is nice and sweet, and you can’t really even taste the sake at all. This a great alcoholic beverage for adults who don’t like the taste of alcohol. It’s passionfruit, but it reminds us heavily of mango.
If you’re not interested in this beverage, you could also get the Moon on the Water Sake for $15 or the Brew Hub Momo Amber Ale for $5.50 for 6oz ($10 for 12oz).
OVERALL
We’ve been to a LOT of booths at the festival so far, but this might be the BEST. All the items collectively balance really well and make a nice, well-rounded meal. We left feeling really satisfied and good about what we paid for.
We liked everything that we tried here, and we’d recommend each of the items for different reasons. You can’t go wrong at the Japan booth!
Over in Japan, we're turning up the HEAT!
