Disney Channel To Stop Airing in Russia This Month

Back in March, Disney announced it would pause all business in Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. Disney did warn that the halting of streaming could take a little longer due to previous contractual agreements. Now, Disney Channel will officially pause streaming in Russia on December 14th, according to Reuters.

Disney Channel originally started streaming in Russia in 2010. The Kommersant newspaper reported on Friday that Russia is replacing the channel with a new children’s program called “Solntse,” which translates to “sun” in English. Reuters was not able to independently verify the report, and The Walt Disney Company was “not immediately available to comment.”
