If you’ve ever visited Disney World during hurricane season, you probably know how much the weather can change in a day.
But aside from those daily afternoon storms, Disney World can also experience hurricanes! Recently, Hurricane Ian (later downgraded to Tropical Storm Ian) caused significant damage across Florida, and now it looks like another storm could be forming soon.
The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane season lasts from June through the end of November and it looks like another storm could hit Florida soon. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the National Hurricane Center has forecast “an increased chance that a tropical depression or storm could form in the Atlantic and potentially threaten Florida in the next five days.”
As of November 4th, the chances for the formation of a storm within the next five days have increased by 40%. Forecasters are predicting that a “large nontropical low pressure system” will develop over the northeastern Caribbean Sea and southwestern Atlantic near Puerto Rico.
At worst, Space Launch Delta 45’s Weather Squadron Launch Officer Mark Burger said that the storm could “bring sustained winds of 25-30 mph with gusts approaching 45 mph.” Burger is keeping an eye on the developing system as it could potentially affect NASA’s Artemis I mission next week.
Burger added, “We’re not looking at any likelihood at this point of being a strong system emerge out of this.” If the system does grow, it could become Tropical Storm Nicole, and it could potentially affect Florida beginning sometime between Monday to Wednesday next week.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this developing news, so stay tuned for more updates in the event that this potential storm could affect Disney World.
