U.S. Sees Highest Number of Air Travelers Since Pre-COVID

Air travel has been a bit chaotic lately.

Flying isn’t fun for everyone

There have been a lot of delays and cancelations, as well as some staffing issues. But, there are some positive things, like new routes being added and new resources travelers can use. And now, something else has happened that seems to indicate that things are looking up for the airline industry.

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration recently screened the highest number of air passengers since February 2020, according to Reuters. What’s that number you ask? 2.49 million people! This was seen on Sunday, October 16th.

A number that high hasn’t been seen since February 14th of 2020, before the global pandemic started shutting things down in the United States. The number is still lower than it was on October 16th of 2019 (which was 2.61 million people), but it’s getting closer!

Airlines are reporting that business and leisure travel is increasing. Chief Executive of Delta Airlines, Ed Bastian, said that, “After two years of delaying travel, it is clear that consumers are getting out and traveling the world.”
