What might be Disney’s biggest fan event of the year doesn’t even take place in a theme park!
That’s right, we’re talking about the 2022 D23 Expo! This annual event in Anaheim, California features exclusive events and guest panels, insider info and announcements on Disney projects, and even limited-edition merchandise. We’ve been keeping up with the updates regarding this year’s event, and Disney just announced that The Walt Disney Archives will return to the 2022 D23 Expo!
The 2022 D23 Expo is taking place from September 9th to 11th, at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
We’ve already learned about the biggest presentations that members will be able to catch at the Expo, and now we’ve got a sneak peek at some items from The Walt Disney Archives that will be on display in an all-new exhibit!
D23 Expo guests will be able to experience Walt Disney Archives presents Step in Time, an exhibit curated to celebrate the history of The Walt Disney Company. According to Disney, “This chronological exhibition will showcase Walt Disney Archives historical assets like never before with immersive, themed environments from animated shorts, films, and film premieres, as well as television productions and Disney Parks favorites.”
Sounds like guests are in for quite the experience — the exhibit will be housed in a 12,000-square-foot space divided into nine “highly themed” areas. Visitors can experience what it’s like to captain the boat in Steamboat Willie or visit Flynn’s Arcade from TRON before heading out to see Walt Disney’s Grumman Gulfstream I Airplane!
Not only that, but the Walt Disney Archives Stage will be back this year, hosting over a dozen panels throughout the weekend, too! And, you can check out a look at the creation of Disney100: The Exhibition on Saturday, September 10th at 10AM — opening in February at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
Several ticket tiers for the 2022 D23 Expo have already sold out, but there are still some tickets available — click here for more info! And keep following DFB for more of the latest Disney news.
