Exactly one year ago today, we drank cotton candy. Let us explain.
The Cotton Top Lagoon was one of two cotton candy topped drinks we found in Animal Kingdom in 2021, and it was made with a frozen blend of blue raspberry and lemonade and topped with cotton candy. Today we found a NEW version of this drink in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but does it live up to 2021’s version?
During a visit to Animal Kingdom today, we stopped by the Dino Diner in DinoLand U.S.A., where you can find typical theme park foods like churros, hot dogs, and sometimes, a cotton candy drink.
Now available is the Sea Turtle, which is a Frozen Blue Raspberry and Frozen Lemonade Slushy topped with a Wave of Blue Cotton Candy for $5.49. Sound familiar? It’s basically the same thing as the Cotton Top Lagoon, this time in a clear cup.
When we got our drink, we loved the colors, but the cotton candy was…underwhelming. Remember last year’s huge topper of cotton candy? This year, the cotton candy seemed a bit deflated. We noticed that as soon as the Cast Member put the cotton candy on top of the drink, it pretty much immediately started sinking in.
Still, it IS a really cute drink, and it was cold and refreshing. The flavors were a mix of tart and sweet, and it essentially tasted like a really sweet blue lemonade. Like last year’s drink, it was almost TOO sweet.
It’s definitely an Instagram-worthy drink, but make sure you take your pictures FAST before the cotton candy melts!

If you don’t care about loading up your kids (or yourself, we don’t judge) with sugar, this is a good treat for a hot day. Just expect to drink your cotton candy, rather than eat it.
You can order the Sea Turtle for $5.49 from the Dino Diner in Animal Kingdom. It might not be around for long so don’t wait too long to satisfy your sweet tooth, and stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World snack news!
