Raise your hand if you love Julie Andrews! 🙋♀️
Julie Andrews, the star of classic films like Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music (and we can’t forget The Princess Diaries!) is a legend, and there is a rare opportunity to live in a home where she once resided. By the way, it’s a Victorian mansion and you need a few million dollars to buy it. No big, right?
If you REALLY love Julie Andrews and you have £16.5 million ($21.7 million in USD) lying around, why not buy her former home? This house in West Side Common, London, overlooking the Wimbledon Common, is where Julie Andrews lived in the 1960s and the 1970s. Built in 1894, this property is for sale for the first time in 50 years.
According to Time Out, Andrews lived in this home when it was divided into three wings, and she lived in the front wing. She was working on films including The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins while living there!
Time Out reported that after Andrews took Glynis Johns’ hat from Mary Poppins, she passed the prop to the next owners of the house, and it has since become a tradition for the hat to be passed on to each new buyer. The current sellers plan to continue this tradition!
According to the listing agent, the mansion was designed by the renowned Victorian architect Edward J. May, and it was previously owned by Sir Thomas Cecil and the Grosvenor family.
All three wings of the Victorian mansion have since been recombined to form a single home, bringing the property to a whopping 11,000 square feet.
All you need is a cool £16.5 million (or $21.7 million USD) to walk the same halls Julie Andrews once did! Keep reading DFB for more news — and let us know if you buy this gorgeous property!
