When Disney World first announced that a Figment Popcorn Bucket was coming to the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, we knew it would be popular. However, we don’t think we knew the half of it!
Because that popcorn bucket debuted yesterday with the festival, and guests were standing in a LONG line waiting HOURS to get their hands on a little Figgy of their own. HOURS, folks. And that doesn’t even count the people who were just in line trying to get a grilled cheese (seriously, why did Disney decide to put the popcorn bucket at a food booth?).
There was SO much drama over the Figment Popcorn Bucket yesterday that eBay listings turned up online selling it for HUNDREDS of dollars. And one Disney fan put up a bad sketch of the popcorn bucket on eBay to raise money for charity (and people bid BIG bucks to help out Habitat for Humanity). It was WILD, y’all.
Well, today, the Figment hype train continues. Because when we got to EPCOT this morning, there was a massive crowd of people at rope drop waiting for — you guessed it — to get in line for the Figment Popcorn Bucket. LOOK at this crowd headed towards Pop Eats!

The rope drop crowd
That is a LOT of people wanting to get their hands on Figment. We’ll have to say that the Early Theme Park Entry folks have a jump on the popcorn bucket, though, since they did get to enter the park 30 minutes before everyone else. So here’s a tip — if you want to get a better shot at grabbing the bucket with shorter lines, you’ll want to stay at a Disney World hotel.

The line is already long!
Most interesting, though, is that the Pop Eats! booth, where Figment is being sold, is currently out of the rainbow popcorn he comes with. So if you actually wanted the popcorn, too, you’re out of luck. But we don’t think these guests are standing in line for popcorn anyway — they just want to get their hands on Figgy!

Crowds for Figment!
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the Figment Popcorn Bucket situation at EPCOT, so stay tuned for updates!

Yup, that’s a hard no for me. It’s cute but not THAT cute.
I really, honestly hope that Disney starts selling it in the online store. Waiting hours at a park just isn’t feasible for all of us, no matter how big of Disney fans we are…
I can only speak for Sunday, but around 2:15pm the line looked long yet it was only a 40 minute wait for the bucket. I think Disney streamlined the process for a smoother and shorter wait as the post-debut days passed.
We did it! Waited in line 5.5 hours, LOL! Wife and I grabbed 4; one for ourselves, two for friends who collect, and one for a family member. We probably will give ours to a nephew. Honestly, we did it just for the experience. We know people who always arrive for opening day experiences; stand in line, and talk about what a great time they had. Now we kind of understand why: The weather was beautiful, the people in line are mostly happy, friendly and interesting, there are lots of interesting things going on during Festival of the Arts, and the EPCOT background music is soothing… it was actually a very nice and relaxing time! We took turns throughout the wait peeling off to visit the art and food kiosks. We met a lot of people and had a fun time! We did have an advantage, as my wife has a mobility chair for her ankle injury, and we took turns sitting on it.
Now, I am not sure if we would do this under other circumstances, such as bad weather (very hot or very cold, or rainy), but give us another beautiful day and we don’t mind hanging out in a park with 5000 friends, LOL!
Any idea how long ‘Figgy’ will be available for?
Hi Karen! Disney hasn’t stated how long they predict the Figment popcorn bucket will last, but the lines are shorter now after the first day release so our fingers are crossed you’ll be able to get one when you go!
I hit the Pop Eats line at 7:45 PM on Sat, and only waited 45 minutes to get my grilled cheese… oh and 2 buckets for friends. (They let me visit the DVC Lounge with them, I can get a bucket for them.) And I’m really happy about the spork substitution, since that was the one bit of merch I wanted for myself.
