Disney has been changing a lot of things lately.
Annual Passholders no longer get free MagicBands, there is a whole new FastPass system, and After Hours events have replaced the usual holiday parties. One thing that’s been missing since Disney reopened last year is Extra Magic Hours. Disney recently announced new perks to replace the extra time in the parks, but only select hotel guests have access to the extended hours in the evenings. However, there will soon be another place to stay that will allow you full access to this perk!
Disney announced earlier this summer that all Disney Resort guests will get Early Theme Park Entry to all of the parks every day starting in October. They also announced extra hours at night in the parks called Extended Evening Hours. These evening hours will only be available to select guests on certain days at certain parks.
Only Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resort guests will be allowed to use Extended Evening Hours at the parks. These include hotels like the Grand Floridian and the BoardWalk Inn — you can see a full list of qualifying resorts here.
For a while, we did not know if the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Hotels were included in this perk, since they’re not Disney owned, but are considered Deluxe on-property hotels. But, Disney later confirmed that the hotels ARE included in both Early Theme Park Entry AND Extended Evening Hours!
This will also include the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve when it opens in September of 2021! This new hotel is right next to the Swan and Dolphin Hotels near EPCOT and is also a part of the Marriott Hotels system.
So, if you’re looking to stay on Disney property but not at a Disney hotel, you can still get some of the same perks as Deluxe resort guests! Reservations are open right now for the Swan Reserve, so you can go ahead and book your trip. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news and updates!
