Key lime is another Florida staple, and in between bites of orange-flavored cakes and cookies, we spotted a fun new TWIST on a classic tropical dessert at Disney World.
Is Disney Springs shaping up for a citrus snack smackdown (or, umm, SNACKdown)? Lately, Gideon’s Bakehouse has clearly been amping up their orange-flavored dessert offerings, but today a key lime contender has joined the fray. Key lime pie is the flavor inspiration for the latest snack at Sunshine Churros, and as AVID key lime connoisseurs, we HAD to try!

When we swung by, our churro was served so fresh — maybe too fresh? — it was piping-hot. Like, it might be hard for kids to hold…

…but aside from the scorching freshness, the key lime flavor was certainly bold, if a little unexpected!
Pre-lime
The churros are rolled in key lime sugar while still hot, allowing them to absorb the flavor better.
Again, we’re thinking this might have been a little too effective, since the key lime sugar sorta melted into the churro, resulting in somewhat of a chewy candy-like coating.
Key Lime Pie Churro
The flavor was great, and anyone who loves the taste of key lime pie will LOVE the taste of it, but texturally it wasn’t what we were expecting.
