Would You Spend Over $3,000 on a FLOATING Baby Yoda Toy?!

Last year, at the New York Toy Fair, a specially-crafted FLOATING pram holding a Baby Yoda plush was on display. But, that’s all it was — a display item that was NOT for sale — until now.

Today, as shared by StarWars.com, Mattel Creations, in partnership with ProjectArt, has placed 1 super specially crafted hovering pram up for bid through an online auction on eBay! More on this amazing item in a second, but first let’s talk about the auction.

The final auction price (minus any PayPal fees if purchased via PayPal) will actually benefit ProjectArt. ProjectArt is a charity that “supports the arts for underserved K-12 students by promoting teaching and learning through visual arts.” So, you could score an EPIC Baby Yoda item AND help others — what an awesome combo.

Okay, so how does this Baby Yoda pram actually float?! Star Wars spent some time with Mattel designer Michael Kadile and now we’re sharing the inside scoop with you!

Kadile shared that for the original pram that was on display at the Toy Fair, they had to install a really powerful electro-magnetic levitation system to make the pram float. He also shared that the balance was “meticulous and specific” and that the “slightest imbalance, even a gust of air, could have thrown it off if not installed properly.” Intense.

Two months after the Toy Fair, he was asked to replicate the display for the charity auction. Because of the pandemic though, Kadile had to assemble the new pram in one spot — his garage — and work remotely with the teams to complete it.

To show his appreciation, Kadile even had everyone who contributed to the project sign their name on the inside of the piece. So, if you win this piece you’ll truly be getting a unique, collectors item. And c’mon — how cool would this look in your living room?!

Want to get your hands on this AMAZING collectible? Bidding has already begun on eBay and will be open through March 5th at 9AM PST. The item includes the pram (which is magnetically powered and will spin when The Child is inside), a plush toy of The Child, and more.

Wondering how much it’ll cost ya? Well, when we checked recently, 42 bids had already been placed and the current bid was…$3,000!!! That’s one expensive alien!

Not interested in spending $3k to grab Baby Yoda? Well, Mattel has also announced some other new items you can snag. First, there’s a new collector’s edition plush of The Child in a motorized hover pram with realistic-looking hair.

Mattel also announced a limited quantity of autographed 3-packs of the Star Wars x Barbie dolls signed by Barbie designer, Robert Best.

The Star Wars – The Mandalorian The Child – Collector Edition Plush with Hover Pram and Star Wars x Barbie sets will be available for a limited time only starting March 5th at 9AM PST and ending at 9AM PST on March 12th.

So, if you’re looking to grab the floating pram, Baby Yoda with hair(!), or some cool signed Barbies, be sure to mark your calendars and bid on or get these while you can. $3K is a HEFTY price for a little alien, but we can’t deny that the floating pram is EPIC.
